Maybe it was one of the most submitted questions and that is why he answered it.
Possible, but I doubt it. Anyway, it's a fluff question. It doesn't effect gameplay at all. Ok, maybe I can think of a few corner cases, but still.
It's like answering the following:
"The PHB says that elves 'eyes
are vibrant blue, violet, or green,' emphasis mine. I noticed that this is a difference from other racial descriptions that are less specific about features. Can my elven character have hazel or gray eyes?"
Yeah, some people might want to know that, but seriously?
How long did it take him to research and answer that question do you think? That is if he didn't already know the answer. Five minutes maybe? And if it did take him longer than that, should they really be spending that much time deciding what color it is?
