So... hiaku aside, if you are NOT going to covert to 3.5, staying in the 3.0 mode, what reasons do you have for not making the upgrade? I ask due to the veritable plethora of ways to make the upgrade with little or no expense...

It will probably take a while for my group to make the upgrade to 3.5. Mostly it is because we all already have the 3.0 books and 3.5 seem like it will be different enough where those older books will not be useful in a 3.5 game. Many of the players are going to be reluctant to make the investment in whole new books(which if we all buy the PHB and the 2 DMs get the other core books as well is pretty significant, probably over $300 total).

The other issue is that some of the players in our group are just getting the old rules down (3 of them are new to DnD), thowing a whole new set of rules at them could get confusing. I'm sure I would be saying "no that was how we did it in 3.0 the new rule is blah blah" all the time. I think it could prove disruptive to our game. The players that have mechanics difficulties are good RPers (one is an ex LARPer) and I would hate frustrate them right out of our game.

And finally I'm going to take a wait and see attitude to 3.5 and see how many of the changes are recieved and how they effect other peoples games. I like most of the changes but some of them seem a little off the wall to me. For example the new Ranger class goes to far IMO. A more conservative change would have been more to my liking.

As far as I'm concerned, they've picked the right issues to change in 3.5, they just made the wrong changes.

Add to it the fact that I'm working on my own home-grown world and rules based on 3E (which promises to be a perpetual work-in-progress, but changing things to base it on 3.5 instead certainly won't speed the process), want to try running a Midnight campaign, and I'm really looking forward to the different take on certain things in Arcana Unearthed, and I just don't have much motivation to spend the money on 3.5.

Although my group believes that 3.0 was a step up from 2nd ed., I don't think we're having enough problems that warrant another gruesome adaptation :)

Other reasons include not wanting to buy the books again, and definitely not liking to consult a print out of the SRD for rules.

My group (at least most of us) is planning on upgrading to 3.5. I imagine that we'll seemlessly change to the new rules over time, and everything will be a-ok.

We'll finish out our current campaign, and switch over when I start DM'ing this fall.
 

As an aside, some of the players are really excited about some of the changes, such as the changes to the ranger, and the druid, and the spell-swapping rules.

I'm just not looking forward to retro-fitting all those house rules that I have worked up.

Because my players don't want to. Majority rules, in my group. Why don't they want to? They don't want to because they have no intention of buying new books this early in the game. There is the SRD, I suggested. "Huh?" was their response. Why sit around with a pile of ugly print-outs when they have perfectly good 3.0 books?

So, no upgrading for a while (though, as DM, I shall likely be adding a few bits of, um, "errata" to our games - stuff in the DMG and MM that the players don't have access to). All the "nerfs", I think... ;)
