Resistance to Energy

DMG page 298

"A creatrue with resistance to energy has the ability...to ignore some damage of a certain type...each round."

AND

"A janni can ignore the first 10 points of fire damage it takes each attack "

These conflict, don't they?

The first quote is correct, isn't it?

Please direct me to the compiled errata if this has only been covered sufficiently.

The PH defines it correctly in the glossary on page 312. The resistance protects against each attack, so the second quote is correct. The first quote is mistaken, probably a cut and paste error. Report it to the DMG errata site.

I believe the new MM defines it correctly as well.
