Response to Russ' Front Page Letter.

Upon reading the first few lines of his letter, I thought to myself, "This can't be, he just changed the boards, he can't be shutting it down now".

I was certainly a bit scared. The start sounded a bit like Eric's statement when he closed his site.

Morrus, thank you for this great site and the forums!. :)

Morrus, I never posted a lot here, but I've always enjoyed the site ever since you created it. Thanks for every last bit of effort. Enjoy your job and gaming again. You'll obviously do well. And thanks to everyone else around here who does work too. Great site! :D

Morrus,

I certainly appreciate all the work you've done over the last few years. I came to EnWorld when Eric's site merged with your own and I have been a fan since.

I understand the hobby=chore syndrome too. I worked for a d20 publisher for almost two years before I quit. I almost quit the hobby rather than the job because DnD became work.

Glad that you made the decision to keep DnD as a source of joy!

Dave

Russ,

When Eric closed his board and passed the torch to you, I have to say that at first I wasn't sure what this place would be like. You had your own style, similar enough to Eric's, but just different enough to take some getting used to. For a very short while I wondered if the community would endure, or if the membership would simply hop to different boards.

But ENWorld not only kept its course, it grew. Oh how it grew. Not only in members, but in content. It became the most important D&D site out there, save for perhaps Wizard's own (and I seem to remember you getting the scoop on them more than a few times!).

Under your watch, ENWorld has become something not only good, but great. Stopping by has become part of my daily routine, and one that - if you ever decided to close up shop - I would sorely miss.

Basically, Russ - you've done one helluva job. Thank you.

Now get the hell out of here and roll some dice.

It did indeed bring to mind Eric's message.

Morrus... Go have fun, darnit. :)

The Truth....

I have to say, that was a honest showing of where the mind is, and this is the second time I have witness this before, with Ed Noah.

Yes, it does take up time and mind energy and somethings will be left behind, and I am glad that he has caught himself now then later.....and still have to the heart to do EnWorld.

That is a heart my friends, pure heart....Morrus, get back that flare that made you spark before....and I know how it feels, being a storyteller, Mod handler at my players' site is hard job, and yes it is a small thing compare to what you do, but I feel the drain on the mind, spirit and then the body.

This announcement also reminded me, that sites such as this, are not immortal and the people behind such wondrous sites, are flesh and blood just like I am.

That has removed the clouded veil from my eyes..Thank You.

Ditto!

I'll add my own "Thanks for all your hard work!" and "Best Wishes!" to the growing pile. To you and all the volunteers who help this place not only survive, but flourish.

I'm glad to see you'll be joining the rest of us that go to work everyday...and spend it lurking on your site! :p

I hope you're able to get from EN World what I and everyone else here gets from it -- a sense of community and enjoyment.

Thanks!

I would also like to add my thanks to the growing chorus.

I'm not a prolific poster, but I have been a regular visitor to your site (and to Eric's before it). I come here almost every day to read the news and the message boards, and I have witnessed the growth of this community. You've done an amazing job.

Again, thank you.

"You've done a man's job, sir!"
