Return of the King, ummm not anticipating it.

I remember for months before The Fellowship of the Ring came out I was really really looking forward to the movie. Hell I asked for time off to see it months in advance. Right after the movie I coudn't wait for Two Towers. Was at a different job and had more control over my schedule so I basically got the day off as a normal day off.

Well I just don't have that "feeling" about seeing Return of the King. I don't know why. I loved FotR, I really liked TT but for some reason if RotK came out next week I don't even know if I would see it opening day or just wait a few days to let the crowds die down.

What the hell is wrong with me:confused:

Hmmm.

Well, you are in Tampa so that is a bit far for me to travel to give you a good slapping around... ;)

Okay, now seriously. I'm not currently all that jazzed for it because I am distracted by the 4 or 5 other movies (plus books) that will be released over the next few months. I'm sure when the end of summer rolls around or when the trailer for the movie hits you'll be back into it. :D

And if not, feel free to stop by New England and I'll slap ya around a bit. That may help. ;)

Well, I don't want to come across as a Tolkien snob, but I found I didn't enjoy The Two Towers as much because of the changes and bad new material that was added, like Aragorn getting pointlessly lost. So I can't say I'm looking forward quite so much to the RotK, although that might change if the extended version of The Two Towers is better.

Puts on Three Stooges Doctor Disguise...

I fear that you are suffering from what some call Bakshi-animatus-interuptus with dangerous levels of Rankin-Bass-itus. When the previous attempt at making the film failed before the full trilogy could be actualized, many fans received a heavy Pavlovian influence to view any completion of the trilogy as overkill. As such, many fans now will find watching RotK as unsatisfactory as being too busy...too anti-kidified, if you will. Take two DVDs (FotR and tTT) prior to the release of the third movie and you should be just fine...

This is more or less how i feel about it too.

yep, i think CCamfield got it right. the lackluster tTT kinda ruined it for me. i mean hell, i only saw it twice, as opposed to the 4 or 5 times i saw FotR in the theaters. i feel your pain man. but don't give it too much thought. enjoy all the summer movies. then wait for the excitement to build afterwards, you'll be fine. it's tough to maintain all that excitement over two years on your own.

I blame Everquest

Hey Dagger, what level is your EQ character now??? Kidding

YOu know how big of a Tolkien fan I am, and I kinda have the same feeling. I don't know if I'd go as far as say I wouldn't see it, but I'm certianly not anticipating it like I was the first movie. Maybe it's because I was disappointed with TTT. Maybe seeing a trailer would help. Anyone know when/what movie the trailer will debue?
