[sblock=Backstory]Born the only daughter of Bors, a lonely human innkeeper, and the Elven warrior woman who took the innkeeper aside for a little fun at the inn. Gwylla was dropped off a year later with a pouch of gold and a request to raise her. Gwylla became the love of his life. He doted on her and gave her everything he could. However the other local children teased and bullied for looking different and being interested in books. Her father couldn't protect her all the time, but found a wizard looking for an apprentice. It was a heartbreaking goodbye.

Leila the Elder, a older female human wizard in retirement, had use of an apprenice in her golden years. The arrangement worked well, Gwylla found a home and a purpose, Leila got the help she needed completing her work. Gwylla's thirst for knowledge and power grew and grew, fast enough it outstripped Leila's comfort, but she kept Gwylla on. After completing her work, a great tome of rituals, Leila grew sick and quickly died.
Upon Leila's death, her son, Elnir the Grim, took possession of Leila's tower and turned Gwylla out in the street.
Gwylla now is at loose ends and looking for a purpose for her life and a way to slake her thirst for knowledge and power.[/sblock]

Okay, I've got Gwylla, insecure and naive half-elf wizard out in the world at loose ends. I'm imagine her seeing Lady Rebekah, and being drawn to her, amazed at the way all the elven features Gwylla has been tortured for in her childhood, on Lady Rebekah work with grace and beauty. I'm not quite sure why Lady Rebekah would let the nerd girl follow her but I'm interested in tying in to somebody.

Busy night for the party - this is great - Let me try to address what I can.

Reading the Rana/Aridha connection I think that "The Beast" inside of Aridha is sealed in by the circle and Rana taught her to focus on other creatures of the forest meditate on things with not so sharp teeth or claws. By transforming into them you slightly subdue the creature inside her. I like everything taking shape here so far, I may not like keep track of the next full moon, but I wouldn't want to miss any RPing it will bring so will make a tracker for our use.
@KahlessNestor You can go ahead and spend your gold if you wish it will be our first houserule. I have a second I wish to discuss in the next post. Sorry I wasn't familiar with the character sheet, didn't find everything over on the right.

Great background for Hexiros, I will diffidently have to make a return of Lord Hunt one of my side quests as we adventure.

Hmmm... I see two groups forming that hopefully I can merge into one.
Group 1: Lady Rebekah, Emmyr, and Gwylla
Group 2: Rana, Aridha, and Captain Blackpearl

It is possible I will work on this as a possible opening/RPing encounter in the adventure thread.

Here is the RG thread.

What about Captain Blackpearl being a river pirate?, or fighting river pirates. As this would make a little more sense because of our location. Or Zanword could still have been lost at sea and was brought upriver miraculously (actually by his mentor's diety). Your character could still pine for the sea but his responsibilities are now to great to ignore or leave.

I like the hook of Gwylla looking up to Lady Rebekah, and I'm sure my Lady is looking for a routine to accompany her. Gwylla could be the other lady Rebekah would want along, and could possible posse as her scribe/adviser.

Discussion:

I am thinking of using the Rest Variant (Epic Heroism) Option listed in the DMG pg.267 this will...

- make a short rest 5 mins long and a long rest 1 hour long
- spellcasters can only regain up to half their maximum spell slots (rounded down) and are limited to slots of 5th level or lower
- only after 8 hours of rest may a spellcaster regain 6th level or higher spell slots

My reasoning is that after going over the maps and looking through encounters I noticed that the last encounter in the Temple dungeon is number 433. That means there is a lot to accomplish to get through this excellent adventure (and that is only the first part taking the characters to lvl 8), and I think the ability to accelerate the game may come in handy.

This is up for a yeah/nay vote if you all wish to weigh in. Also if you need to adjust your character builds due to this please do so and let me know.

.

No problem with river pirates or smugglers or any combination thereof. Maybe the original captain even knew something. And river makes it easier to end up in a swamp. Floating half-dead, washed up in a river-bend-overflow pond and later brought deeper by the warden

Not much detail about water gods. Protean is more detailed, but he's ocean god - closest to Talos from FR - fickle, chaotic and terrible.

Geshtai
Geshtai is the Baklunish goddess of Lakes, Rivers, Wells, and Streams. Her symbol is a waterspout. Geshtai was first detailed for the Dungeons & Dragons game in the World of Greyhawk Fantasy Game Setting (1983), by Gary Gygax.[2] Geshtai is depicted as a young Baklunish woman carrying a clay jug. She stands in a pool of water with Gumus, her fish companion.

Osprem
Osprem is the Suel goddess of Sea Voyages, Ships, and Sailors. She is often depicted as a beautiful woman in a flowing gown, or as a dolphin, barracuda, or sperm whale. In human form, she wears a ring carved from a whale's tooth, a gift from the grandfather of all whales. She is the occasional companion of Xerbo. Osprem was first detailed for the Dungeons & Dragons game in the World of Greyhawk Fantasy Game Setting (1983), by Gary Gygax.[2]

This does not add time to PbP. You'll just make those with short rest powers more powerful and casters will nuke everything because they don't have to conserve spells. Even paladins get big boost because I can smite more ofter.

My vote: NAY

Character reviews:

Hexiros

- Think you highly Deception instead of Animal Handling as the totals are correct.
- Who is Norbrit? he is listed in your second wind ability
- also have prof vehicles(land) under background features

Captain Blackpearl:

- Should have tool prof listed under features : you get both navigator's tools and vehicle(water) prof
- although you don't start with the tools you are proficient with (odd) so you need to find/purchase navigator's tools
- should have 8 gp listed somewhere
- What about going real old faith with Beory as it is the worship of Oerth itself which is mostly ocean

My thoughts were that those with short rest powers could say they take 5 minutes, while others continue to explore a room or two. Not everyone would need to stop and rest all at the same time when it is in 5 min blocks unlike it would be for an hour short rest.

I thought about the spell casters also. But stopping an hour in a cult filled dungeon might not always give you that time you need. So once in a while an hour long rest would be interrupted and forget about 8 hours. You would need to either leave or convince those in the dungeon your one of them.

Not trying to sway your vote just throwing out ideals for debate.

So far:
Yeah: 0
Nay: 1

What??? No one wants to pair up with a smelly, dirty ratcatcher with bad teeth and a lazy eye??? :o

I think that for the most part others moving on while the spellcasters short rest probably would not happen if it were a choice?

It seems like this may make spellcasters a bit OP for my tastes compared to non-spellcasters. 5e lets spellcasters usually have an "at-will" attack and I think they should be fine with judicious use of their spells.

I am a NAY.
