Or, if you get the updated SRD to keep alongside your old PHB, it looks like a free upgrade. Hell, they're the core books - of course the majority of the material isn't going to be new. A lot of people (not just here, by the way - this isn't a slam) seem a little put out by that. You have the option of upgrading your old books for free with the updated SRD, or you can pay for the convenience of the new books.
