I'm not encouraging piracy here, but reprinting books that have 75% content from the original and some unknown percentage of material found in the splat books (that a lot of people already own) is the kind of thing that tempts otherwise lawful folks to download copies of these puppies for free.

Hmm, ninety percent content I already have, same price as I paid for the original 3E book... looks like a 10x price increase to me.
Or, if you get the updated SRD to keep alongside your old PHB, it looks like a free upgrade. Hell, they're the core books - of course the majority of the material isn't going to be new. A lot of people (not just here, by the way - this isn't a slam) seem a little put out by that. You have the option of upgrading your old books for free with the updated SRD, or you can pay for the convenience of the new books. It's not as if decent folk are being driven to piracy because mean ol' WotC is forcing people to buy the new books if they want to play the game.

Actually the newspaper just said RUP, so you know what they say about making assumptions...

Yep. You make an ass out of you and Ume, and last I heard Ume is gettin' tired of it...

I'm gonna get the new Revised books, probably order on-line. I could probably find them for about $25 - $28, free shipping. The old books I might keep, or I might sell on E-Bay; not sure yet. Selling old books would be a way to offset the loss of purchasing new books, though.

You don't need piracy.

I'm going to get all the updates I need from the SRD, thankyouverymuch..

....I just hope they update this with the kind of speed they did with the d20 modern SRD.....hopehopehope!

Wouldn't it be just as easy to use the SRD, which is freely and legally available? The SRD is the System Reference Document, which is the core of the d20 game. It will have all the changes. Again, for free, and legally available to anyone to download.
