Ughh....

Of course I haven't liked the core book covers at all, except for the Monster Manual.

IMO, these new covers are more gaudy than the 3.0 books, and that's saying something.

methinks WotC is becoming quite the money whore...
Think about it. They release a flawed system, and later on they release a so-called 'better' revised system, and even LATER on they bring back the old one to satisfy the old-schoolers. Sounds like a move that the Coca-cola Corporation would make.

Nice! What world is on the globe? It looks a bit like the complete continent that greyhawk is on, but I can't be sure. The bit on the far right of the globe does look like greyhawk though.

<sarcasm>Yes I'm sure that WotC deliberately released a flawed system so they could revise it later. </sarcasm>

WotC is damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they revise the game, they're fleecing gamer. If they don't revise the game, they're ignoring customer feedback and pretending there aren't problems. If they fix broken aspects of the game in supplements, they're forcing gamers to buy new supplements.

All the while ignoring the fact that the revised editions were created as much for new gamers as for existing gamers, if not more so.

Don't want to spend the money? Then download it for free. The SRD will be released on the same day.

I like the "grimoire" look. Makes the books feel more important or "ancient". Not sure if those are the best words to describe it, but it just feels right for D&D. At least it does to me. And I'm glad they're sticking to the same color schemes.

No, I don't think they're the be-all-end-all of covers, but I do like them.
