Yeah, I don't see the problem either.

He is shielded by the power of his diety, with such a holy aura that the attacks of his enemies cannot pass. The very blades of his enemies are turned away. But wait, his enemy is wielding a weapon infused with vile evil, which negates the infused holyness protecting him, cancelling it out. Even the righteousness of this spell's protection cannot compete with such an evil blade, and it cuts through the protection like it wasn't even there.

The same with demons and devils. Their vile energies prevent weapons from damaging them unless they're blessed by a holy power. This holy power allows their enemies to bypass this defense, which is so foreign to them that their protections will not work on them.

I agree it should have been clearer to me in the first place. I understand why it is this way. I would house rule it (and as a matter of fact our group did so) otherwise. I thank everyone again for making it clear.
