Ring of Improved Invisibility [2002 Thread]

What kind of cost would this have?

1) Continuous like the Ring of Regular Invisibility
2) 3 times/day for 7 minutes

What would the formulae be? The stuff in the DMG just confuses me. I'm so lost!

Using the guidelines in Tome and Blood, (which are effectivly expanded and clairfied tables from the DMG), I get:

1) 4th level spell * 7th caster level * 2000 use activated = 56,000 gp.
2) ( 4th level spell * 7th caster level * 1800 command word activated ) / (5 / 3 times per day) = 30240 gp.

But just as the ring of invisibility is marked up for usefulness, I'd mark up the ring of improved invisibility 30-50%. Ask your DM what he thinks is fair.

I've actually seen a at will version in the hands of 2e of about 6th level.

That character was triple classed and a drow to boot. I don't like rings of improved invisibility.

A Ring of Improved Invisibility, like a Ring of True Strike, is perfectly legal by the rules, but no sane DM would allow it without major restrictions.

Ring of Infinite wishes is 100% fine IF the wearer has to pay the cost (I'd even let it drain levels).

Actually I think a ring of limited wish (same downside as above) would be kinda cool, it reminds me of the Spikards from the Amber Books.

By the way if the wearer of the ring of improved invis, were knocked to -1hps it would pretty much guarantee their death. Cool for a while, bleed to death on the floor, Whats the biggie?

actually it's legal by the rules. That's why they have these Item creation charts in the books. No house rules needed.
