D&D (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

The number one thing I want WotC to publish is CC-BY SRDs for prior editions. It’ll likely never happen, but it’s the only thing I really want from them at this point.

For 5ER it would be revived settings (Dark Sun, Nentir Vale, Al-Qadim, Mystara, Hollow World, Maztica, etc), expanded settings (Eberron and the Latino-inspired stuff from Radiant Citadel), new settings (Latino, Indian, or Japanese), and sandbox modules for any of the above. A proper city-based sandbox would be great.

And I’d like a pony.

You do realize what this means, right? ;) Another fun-filled survey thread.

My realistic expectations/hopes:

The Tasha’s + Xanathar’s combo book that brings four more updated subclasses per class, along with the Species found in Monsters of the Multiverse.

A reworking of Monsters of the Multiverse that is just the bestiary (updated to 2024 layout standards) along with any DM content from Tasha’s and Xanathar’s like more complex traps, group patrons, magic items, puzzles, and the like.

A new anthology adventure book with at least one adventure for each level of play (1-20), preferably in the style of the short DMG adventures so the bones are there for me to build around as a DM.

A new or reworked setting book(s) in the same vein as the Forgotten Realms books this year. Maybe a Ravenloft book that is a companion to Van Richten’s or just a pair of books (Player and DM) for a setting like Dark Sun or Dragonlance.

A big adventure book, maybe the Red Wizards adventure they mentioned a while back.

As of a few hours ago Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass is available on D&D Beyond, so maybe WotC are interested in that portion of fantasy fandom after all!
The thing with something like this, is you have to have people with the right background to make it. Aside from a couple of people WotC is staffed by white American grogs. Which rather limits what they can do themselves to stuff in their bubble. And is why 3PP can make things WotC would never be able to make. Which doesn't mean they are not interested in selling it of course.

Remaster of Starter Set (Phandelver), Essentials Kit, Starter Set (Stormwreck Isle) using the learnings and feedbacks from the last 10 years and put in one hardcover

4e put under a Creative Commons license (so it is completely protected against future OGL bullsh...enanigans.)
4e was never protected by the OGL, it was under a different license (the GSL) which was much more restrictive. It also never had a proper SRD (like the ones for 3e and 5e). So they would have to create something that never existed. Not likely to happen until I take over D&D and call the shots; however, since I only moved to Seattle a year ago it is going to take me some time to wrangle up the capital* to make it happen! ;)

*Actually, if things keeping going the way they seem to be going I may not need as much capital as I thought! :p
