Ray of Frost never had a slow effect before, has it?

I know that ice spells in World of Warcraft have slow effects attached to them.

Hey, wait a minute. I might be onto something here...

I believe that it has that effect in NWN2 as well...

So, do you guys think that "slow" means dex drain, skipping turns, moving within the initiative order, or will there be some sort of "speed" mechanic?

Thinking on the Eladrin planestep ability, there's great plotpoints for the DM built into it.

Assuming a law of similarity between the Prime and Fey, the power could be affected where differences exist. It might be limited in a dungeon, were a parallel dungeon doesn't exist in the other, or there may be planar confluxes, where the power works better.

Hmmmm... ideas are a-brewin'

Wow, that sounds like it was a really fun session! He also makes it sound like "Rituals" are obtainable in ways other than leveling up. It would be interesting to see how much rituals and storing them are like wizard's old spellbooks. If they are similar, I think I like that a lot!
This will completely save wizards for me and bring me back on board. If I'm not collecting more and esoteric abilities from dusty tomes and inhuman tutors, I'm not a damn wizard. :p

So you fought fifteen goblins (including spellcasters) and a copper dragon (which didn't seem to be a wyrmling) using rays of frost, magic missles, wide area scorching attacks, teleportation, and various other cool moves, in only two hours... at second level!?!?

Putting on my game designer hat for a second, though, I think 4E is going to be SO much easier to design and develop material for. Having already done so a bit, and having seen how the mechanics are put together, it kind of amazes me that it wasn't done this way sooner. I know this is going to frustrate people a lot with its vagueness, but having all the math essentially done for us ahead of time seems to be letting us focus more on the creative side of things than on the balance side of things.
These are relevant to my interests.

This actually makes me wonder, "How long is the Eladrin in the Feywild?"

Because I can just see some bad guy put something in the Feywild in the same spot as the fight, so when the Eladrin pops in, intent on moving, it shoots him in the face.

Or worse, a huge giant BBEG in the feywild, pushing a little "part" of it into the material plane - which is the BBEG the players see - use fey step: See it's true form! (as in look at that Mythos critter and your mind goes AWOL)

Cheers, LT.

Perhaps, but I'm betting that unlike at this forum, the name "Golden Wyvern Adept" does not monopolize the entirety of the workday.

This made me smile, and yes, I agree that the mass bunching of panties over "Golden Wyvern Adept" is not warranted.

Wow... like a planar trip-mine. Cool.

Though I'd say the Eladrin is ethereal on both planes during the move. The trap would have to be pretty sophisticated to affect them.

Another interesting side effect of this is that adventures in the fey-realm would include the occasional random encounter of eladrin suddenly appearing and disappearing. If the power works there as well, similar events would happen in the prime plane as well.

Unless you have a party of eladrin!
*snip*

Could you just imagine that? Or worse yet trying to fight that? Sure the teleports might be LOS, but still add in a few warlocks and you'll have characters flashing around like Blink Dogs. Strobe party effect.
