Rogue/Barbarian sneak attack while raging?

Back on topic...I mentioned this in the (latest) thread about sneak attacks and spells. Multiclassing waters PCs down more than it did in 2e. A Rogue5/Barbarian5 has either given up +2d6 sneak attack damage or an extra Rage per day(among other things) depending on how you look at it. So as a general rule, I give the character the benefit of the doubt when it comes to overlapping class abilities...In this case, it is unclear by the rules as to whether sneak attacking requires concentration so I'd give it to him.

Heh. Speaking of PA, how come you dropped the PSU from your title? Did you graduate?

Anywho, this is one of the things I mentioned earlier. From a balance perspective, a barbarian who multiclasses into rogue is going to see his BAB, FORT save, number of rages/per day and hit points suffer, and in return receives sneak attack, more skill points (including use magic device, a biggie) and a better REF save. He still will have a poor WILL save, and his BAB reduction and reduced rages/per day makes up for any addition that sneak attack offers.

Simply put, a multiclassed character will always lack focus on a talent, and generally speaking will always be weaker at some things than a pure-classed character. This has, of course, been debated before, to much effect.

The "PSU" was only because when I originally registered, 'Uller' was already taken(it's _always_ already taken ). Whoever the original Uller was, he never posted anything. So when the boards got reset, I scarfed it up fast! So if the original Uller is around somewhere:

I actually graduated in '97. But I still live near Penn State's main campus(in fact, I can see Beaver Stadium from my office window. That's where the football team now loses most of its games...).
