rogue, warlock, assassin (Avenger)

First Post
2 part - 1st: Party has voted me the "party rogue" type of build, where a "rogue" style of class must remain the highest level in build. From here I have free reign. I wanted to take this assignment and think a little outside the box. 1st off its kind of a high powered campiagn (gestalt) so the party rogue is the least favorite build. So I took it as a chalenge, not to mention I think my build is going to be very strong.

The rest of party, so far, is as follows

8 Fighter / 8 Psion
2 Paladin of Freedom / 6 Favored Soul - 6 Warmage / 2 Mystic Theurge
6 Monk / 2 Fighter - 5 Psi Warrior / 3 Elocater
8 Druid - 5 Scout or / 3 Barbarian
5 Rogue / 3 Paragon -6 Warlock / 2 Assassin

the fighter psion for a simple a build is really all around strong

the Mystic Theurge was allowed because both spellcaster classes dont have max progression (like Cleric/wizard would) and PC is DM's girlfriend!

This Monk combo seems off the wall, but is a major set up guy as well as kill stealer! He is exotic weapon / spiked chain / which DM allows to be counted as Monk Weapon if PC wants

Druid is looking into tank & summon specialist he says he is going to be the best at summoning and at tanking? This is the PC that wanted to be Paladin / Hexblade / Sorcerer or Favored Soul and DM rejected build!

Then there is my rogue based PC, the human Paragon is awesome skill monkey, my EB with SA damage should be nice, death strike always nice, not sold 100% on anything any help much appreciated.

Are you playing Gestalt?

Also, the DM rejected a Hexblade/Paladin...whatever but not a monk /psi warrior who gets to add Spiked chain as a monk weapon? And in the end somehow concluded that The Drood would be less annoying/ powerful/ whatever the reason for rejecting a charisma build?

Neither Rogue, Warlock, or Assassin are particularity powerful classes.

I agree in and of themselves they are not that strong. But when Im doing a death attack or plain ole sneak attack against enemies who are with no dex & no armor (eld blst) whilst flying invisible, I can make a lot of things look easy.

I'll have Ass. spells and Warlock invocations (at will) to aid my rogue'ness
loaded with skill pionts
d8 h pts
3/4 BAB but vs no dex and no armor who cares!
death attack is like having my own death spell every 3 rounds "save or die" 18 +2 lvl +2 head band of intellect = 22int/+6 mod +3 3rd level Ass = 19 fort save or die

You spend three rounds doing nothing in order to inflict a 8d6 damage and a DC 19 fort save or die at a single target at level 8. This really isn't good.

He rejected him because he said he would NOT allow cha bonus to saves twice saying they didnt stack. The player said thats one of the major if not the most important part of playing this build, DM said well then dont play it! (after looking at his girlfiends build, ummm errr I think heee well never mind)

Yah a player who is pissed off and now wants to make a broken PC Im not to sure about the barbarian and scout additions? but apparently he is going to pick feats that aid his summoning and help strengthen his shapeshift/combat.

its not something done all the time granted, but getting the drop on someone, starting a surprise encounter eg given circumstance its a great way to introduce yourself!

Look I know playing a rogue class isnt all that powerful BUT I got to play what I assigned - rogue. Im actually glad its gestalt I can at least get some extra goodies.
I'de much rather play any of the other pc's.

I am not that familiar with Gestalt builds but .... what kind of capabilities are you required to have as "the rogue" for the party?

It seems that there already are 2 PCs with Trapfinding class feature. And that 5 Rogue / 3 Paragon -6 Warlock / 2 Assassin will easily be the best reconnaissance with the combination of Rogue skills and Walk Unseen invocation. There is a high CHA social type PC, too.
