RotK ee: any word on deleted scenes?

Funny I hoped on the scenes would be a favorite of mine. The vision Sam gets as the ring tries to corrupt him. I loved that scene. That and I also felt they SHOULD have shown the one where (I believe) Gandalf or was Lady Gadrielial says to sam "You too bore the Ring for a time. You will have a place for us when the time comes."

He's grieving for Gamling, I believe.

Also, Gimli apparently has a big fight scene with the puffy orc general.
Last night A&E had a special on LotR. They showed briefly the filming of Aragorn and Gimli battling Puffy (who is played by the same actor who played Lurtz.) Looks like Gimli gets in a good chop, then Aragorn provides the coup-de-grace.

I have it on pretty good authority that they filmed the entire scene of Saruman and Wormtounge in the white tower, when Wormmy throws the palienter. It was filmed exactly as it was written, and it should be in the EE version..

No, no. Gothmog is played by the same actor who played the Witch King.

6) Merry pledges loyalty to Theoden. (Shown in earlier trilogy previews)
.

Yesterday, my local Costco was showing a DVD by National Geographic about Return of the King. It was some sort of documentary. I saw a clip that was not in the theatrical movie.

Merry was kneeling on the balcony at Eldoras (about where Eowyn stares wistfully at the horizon in TT). He kneels before Theoden and says a pledge. Theoden seems to be a little embarrassed and hurries Merry back up onto his feet.

It struck me that these extended scenes could probably do quite a bit to improve the "nobility" of the Theoden character. (The chopped down versions tend to focus on his fear and indecision without much time to develop his other qualities).

I got that DVD for Christmas. It's very cool and I've only watched it once.

It supposed contains a couple deleted scene. here's someone's description of a couple:

"Now for the clips that appear to be from ROTK, but were not in the theatrical version. I am hoping these will be in the Extended Edition!

Snippet of Merry bowing to Theoden outside at Edoras. (We have seen this picture.)

Merry: I offer you my service.
Theoden: And gladly I accept it.

Legolas is shown wearing the blue outfit from the Coronation, surrounded by men drinking in a celebratory manner.

Legolas: So....it's...a drinking game?
Men raise mugs and growl. "arrrrr"
Legolas: And what exactly is the point of it?
Gimli: Last one standing wins!!!

Legolas then sips tentatively from the mug with his eyes looking over the rim uncertainly.(I bet this ends with Legolas drinking all the rest under the table. hee hee)

Quick shot of Gandalf and Pippin on Shadowfax facing off against the WitchKing on the fell beast at Minas Tirith."
