But he could do 2-for-1 with his bite... No?

Since his bite does STR x 1.5 as its base damage, I'd consider that equivalent to a 2-handed weapon.

Not as written he can't, but yeah, it'd only seem fair to let him do that. ;)

I've found the best way to convince players that 3.5 Power Attack is broken...advance a giant or other weapon-user to Gargantuan or Colossal, give it a two-handed weapon and Power Attack, and hand them a blank character sheet. :]

Imp. Initiative should go.

Can work toward your advantage to no go first.
1. you can wait for the enemy to move towards you so that you can get in a full attack
2. going last gives allows you to see what is going on so that you can helpe were you are most needed.
3. If initiave was really that improtant wotc would have placed a different modifer.

Having the OPTION to go first is never a disadvantage. The person with the highest initiative can always choose to delay or ready an action if s/he does not want to act first. Having the highest initiative roll gives you more options, it does not force you to go first.

Well, while your slow <explitive deleted> is waiting "to see what is going on" you might get killed by a save or die effect or by a rogue's sneak attack. If you had rolled a higher initiative you would not be subject to that sneak attack (you're not flat-footed) and you might have been able to stop the wizard's save or die spell with a well-timed ready action: attack spellcaster.

The reason the bonus is higher than any other bonus to a d20 roll for a single feat is that initiative typically only happens once per combat, whereas use of weapon focus will happen many times per combat (sometimes per round). Most other feats also come up more often than Improved Initiative. Also, Improved Initiative needs to have a high bonus to help ensure (to some degree) that those with Improved Initiative will usually act before those without - else the feat does not serve it's purpose. Weapon Focus does not guarantee you will hit, but it improves your chance by five percent. Improved Initiative does not guarantee you will go first, but the improvement in the chance that you will act first is four times greater than that conferred by Weapon Focus on your to hit modifier.

I voted for Rapid Shot only because I like Improved Initiative more. Rapid Shot is an excellent archer feat. Improve Initiative is a good feat for anyone. Don't give me this I want to go last thing, because at high levels combat can be over in one save or one round of 10d6 sneak attacks. So going last might be not going at all.

Everyone that likes Improved Initiative must vote Rapid Shot off the island right now. Time is running out.

Might I suggest that next round, we vote for a winner and remove the one that gets the least votes, now that there are only three? Just for a change of pace?

....guys, Improved Initiative is an *excellent* feat.

It gives you +x to hit, where x = the opponent's Dex modifier

How do *any* of these feats even compare? Power attack?! Rapid shot?! They all give you PENALTIES. WHy the heck would you vote for a feat that gives you a bonus over a feat that gives you a penalty?!
