The Complete Book of Illusion is the kind of supplement I'd have been tempted for in the Before Times, when I might be playing my illusionist face to face with people. (Although I'm confused about its use of a creeeeeeepy font for headings; illusions aren't creepy by default. A calligraphic font might have been better.) Pretty neat that it exists, though.

Never fear adventurer . . . the dark times will come to an end, and light and hope shall return to the land . . . someday . . .

Fria Ligan's Twilight 2000 Kickstarter just went live and is already 500% funded in less than an hour.
I backed it at the Deluxe Limited Edition level and tossed in some more to cover the GM Screen and shipping. I do have some worries though about the mechanics. I own all of the Forbidden Lands material and overall like the mechanics for that. I'm still not sold or so sure of it for Twilight 2000 mechanically speaking.

I have a lot of found memories of playing and running 1st and 2nd editions of Twilight 2000, even with its shortcomings it was a lot of fun to play. Especially coming from my background in the Army as a Recon Scout who served on the old West/East German and Czech borders during the cold war. We tended to do little tweaks to correct errors we noted at the time and expanded upon or clarified some issues we ran across back then.

Anyhow, I find myself excited but worried at the same time. I know that that a lot of folks are loving Aliens using this system, but that's a different sort of setting honestly than Twilight 2000 was/is. So, we'll see.

The Hiphop world looks cool. Tho I'm not into cyber genre.

Also, the cover of the Magic School is evocative - I was drawn in to look at all the interesting shenanigans going on. I'm gonna back this one.

It's interesting how many magic school games are coming out right now (Kids on Brooms just came out two or three weeks ago). I wonder how much of this is a reaction to JK Rowling's increasingly interesting behavior and the goodwill for the Harry Potter franchise frittering away with meh spin-off movies and a widely disliked stage play script.

Is this fans saying "fine, we'll do a better job of this ourselves!"

I can't disagree that it appears to be odd timing, as peak HP was probably 2011-2012.

One possible explanation: It might be because those "kids" who grew up on HP in the late 90's early 00's are now coming into adulthood (late 20's early 30's), and just like Boomers EGG and D'Arneson created a game based on their influences (Appendix N); late Millenials and early GenZ'ers are doing same. Because it's not just HP, JKR created (revived?) an entire genre of Magical/supernatural school/summer camp fiction. The appendix N for that type of fiction is as long as the original.

I was in the 7th ID LRSD and we did the same thing, Do you remember the soviet bloc ID cards? The ones that showed a front and side view black silhouette of the vehicle. I guess we where the fore runner to the Aces and Eights Shotclock, we would use the cards and a small mortar plot computer wheel and have a bunch of numbers on pieces of paper in a bowl and get our hit locations that way, It was amazing cause all our Dragons worked, and we survived those encounters! lol. (Well thats the way I remember it anyway :)

I went ahead and got the DLE plus the GM screen as well. The DLE is no longer being listed .

Thanks for bringing up good memories.

Hehe! Yep the aircraft and military vehicle ID cards we made a lot of use of in the 80s/90s. I think I still probably have a set someplace in some box somewhere. Fond memories indeed! Aces and Eights Shotclock is an interesting idea, I've never played the system but did read about it some years ago.

Yep, I'm in on T2K as well...

Someone's concerned about the engine given the strong differences from ALIEN in the setting....
Don't be. Other games using the same engine include Mutant Year Zero, Genelab Alpha, Tales from the Loop...
Fria Ligan uses an adapted-core mode, where each book tailors the engine to the setting. They've had hexcrawl survival modes in several.
