Okay, to answer my own question, if you're using the Player's Handbook format for EN World, the color of the text for the timers doesn't show up well. So you're better off changing to EN World Default format.

New question for the FAQ:

Are the timers for the bank and the job tied together?

I went and got my pittance from my job, and went to deposit it in the bank. The timer on the bank said I would get interest in 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 58 seconds.

So, either I had a very strange coincidence, remembering to collect my salary just as the timer on my bank account was clicking over, or the two timers are linked together.

Also, why can't we auto-collect from the jobs? I sometimes forget for a day or three to collect my salary, and when I do collect, it seems like I'm only getting it for one day's "work."

the bank timer makes you wait 24 hours from the point you goto that page after the interest has happened.

Holy...! It's true! Hell, I think I have wasted... well, 20 gold top really, but it's pretty annoying. Coupled with the jobs thing, I think that the designer explictly wants to prevent people from gaining money just by waiting and checking the site once a month. I must say that I'm not entirely sure that this is necessary.

Deposting/Withdrawing resets the interest timer. So if you're interest just arrived you can start timer by throwing in a GP.

No need for that; if your interest has just arrived, the timer is reset just by looking at the bank. After that, it is only reset when you make a transaction. But you still have to look at the bank - ie, you can't leave the boards for a week and let the money accumulate. Also, maximum efficiency is quite hard to reach unless you can visit the boards every day at the same time.
