[RPG]Why fight each other!?

Ok. I'm not seeing the incentive for the RPG characters to fight one another. Both parties end up having to shell out for healing potions, and the most you can look forward to is getting 5% of your opponent's treasure. Which, considering the cost of armor and weapons and potions, will likely be zero.

I suppose that the xp could be worthwhile to help you get to 1st level and some decent salaries. But after that...? Maybe if both parties were well armored but unarmed and blind, the battle might last long enough to make the xp gained worth the healing that would need to get paid for. You'd still have to accumulate your salary for a while to get the armor, though.

Does this sound fun to anyone? :confused:

Really, I think we need either some sort of automatic healing, and/or we need a financial reward to fight a duel with another RPG player. Healing a 0th level 100 hp character costs 40 gp; the minimum reward for the loser of a duel should be around that much.

Does our version of the RPG game support either option? I.e. automatic healing, and/or rewards for participants in player vs player duels? If not, I really can't see interest in the game taking off. If anything, it will be less popular than the old system.

Well, the idea is to make it more of a community/interactive thing rather than a single-player solitary thing.

The reward (5%) is hard coded, and auto-healing, while a great idea, would also need to be hard coded; and I'm not capable of doing that. v2 has an "inn" you can rest in, apparently.

Part of what it all lacks, from my POV, is an easy way to arrange battles with other players.

Note that as people get a little richer, that 5% reward becomes much more meaningful. I guess it's just a question of initial momentum - getting past those tricky first couple of levels.
 



and you level faster.

the battle i had with an even opponent caused our log to reach like 25 or so entries.

i almost levelled in 1 battle.
