RS1-Stolen University (Salix Judging)

Anger fills the man's eyes, I do NOT have Stockholm Syndrome! That is one of my students! His name is Jim Roarke and he's an actor for goodness sake!"

[sblock=Inner Monolgue]Whoah, what did that oaf say?!

Not now, you, we've got bigger problems to deal with.[/sblock]

Archeville, stifling an urge to speak out against the jock, lands next to the brown-suited man, "Vell, I doubt he vas acting vhen he stole our veapons und threatened us! Und did 'Jim' alvays have zhe ability to generate realistic illusions? Is Jim zhe sort who vould vork for zhe man holding zhe entire campus hostage?"

[sblock=Rgordona]Gotta agree with Asmor, tough luck, but fun nonetheless![/sblock]

The man turns to face Dr. Archeville "That's preposterous, Jim making phantasms, and how do we know you are who you say you are-from the "Resolutes" the man makes quote marks in the air with his last word.

His eyes narrow, "I know you. You're that Austrain Scientest who was all over the International pages a few months ago...the one with the insane family tree.

Archeville visibly winces at that remark. "Ja, it is preposterous, almost as preposterous as someone mistaking a German for an Austrian. Und if you know of me und mein family, you also know I haff done nutzing but good for mein homeland, despite und indeed because of mein... background."

"Und if you had actually read zhe full content of zhose newspaper reports, you vould know I am a member of zhe Resolutes, a team dedicated to stopping zhose who vould use their fantastic powers for selfish und evil means, und zhat ve haff no reason to lie to you. Jim vas altered und brainvashed by zhe Minister, und zhere are probably ozher students on campus who vere given similar treatments. Zhey may be on zhe vay to visit all manner of bodily harm upon us, so I suggest ve all leave here as soon as possible."

The man crosses his arms "I am staying here. We were told that if we stayed here no harm would come to us and we'd be able to return to our homes and our jobs by the end of the day "

"Look, dude, I don't know if you've ever read a comic book, but that's just not how the bad guys operate. They always say that they'll let you go, but it's just to keep you content. As soon as your well-being doesn't serve his purposes, you can be sure that he's going to do something nasty. Besides which, the fact of the matter is he's doing something really wrong here. We don't know what it is, but you don't hijack an entire university unless you've got something big planned. It's our job-- and the job of all those police outside the field-- to stop maniacs like this, and as long as he's got you all held hostage it prevents us from doing our job and it endangers you, me and everyone else involved. Please, let us save you so that we can do our job and stop this madman."

Diplomacy check (1d20+4=17)

Not really happy with that, so I'll use my hero point from when my sword got stolen... Since hero point can only roll 11-20, I'll roll 1d10 and add an extra 10.

Diplomacy check w/hero point (1d10+14=15)

Well... that certainly sucked. C'est la vie.

"Your student attacked us! I don't know what's going on here, but this is what I do know: He has powers including invisibility, illusions and quite possibly super speed. He stole our weapons and threatened us. Once all this is over, we're turning him over to the police so he can be dealt with accordingly. Wait, how about this. You're obviously concerned about the boy. Will you come along with us while we take him out to the police?"

The man's eyes glaze over for a moment, then the glare returns, "I have even less reason to listen to you then I do to him he accentuates by pointing at Archeville, "We were told we would be left alone if we stayed here, and for the past 3 hours we have been. I have no reason to disbelieve a fellow educator.

"Where the hell did they go?"

The other guard pulls off his weapon "Radio. Situation at the Lab, backup requested!
"Motley get over here pronto, there's trouble brewing." reports Mr Jones before thinking, best get rid of these two quickly.

Opps! That could have gone a lot better! I blame the sketchy intel. That useless Major should have shown the team a photo of the Minister rather than rushing off to deal with some situation in Japan :> Then Jones wouldn't have ended up looking so stupid.

OTOH at least Jones hasn't just alienated a load of hostages. :>
