RS1-Stolen University (Salix Judging)

"I've lectured at Technische Universität München, I'm as much an educator as zhis 'Minister'...."

Archeville studies Zenji and the older man while they talk, trying to discern whether the man is being mind controlled or otherwise mentally influenced, or if he's just a stubborn old coot.

Sense Motive roll (1d20+5 = 9)

OOC: That sucked, let's try a Hero Point (1 left after this) to re-arrange Archeville's brain. Extra Effort to gain Power Stunt on Archeville's Enhanced Int 10 -- Enhanced Skills 4 (Sense Motive +15), Enhanced Wisdom 6 (for Wis 16/+3); HP to counter fatigue from EE.

Archeville concentrates harder, dredging up every memory he can of classes he'd taken and books he's read on human behavior.

Sense Motive roll, +18 total modifier (+15 Skill, +3 Wis) (1d20+18=32)

Mr. Jones tries to take control of one of the guards, but is stopped by a mental wall of free will and determination.

Suddenly a red headed girl dressed in a tank top and sweats appears, "What's going on?"

"Probably just Roarke messing with us, Rush. You give him those things you swiped from the intruders. he looks at the other guard, "Give it up, Simmons, it was an illusion. Radio-Situation Under controll

"Yeah, Jim as them. Metal said he was going over to the Elementry school to take care of the two there. I haven't been able to find the fifth one, though."

Meanwhile....

"Situation at the Lab, backup requested!" emits from somewhere in Jim's pockets, shortly followed by Mr. Jones' "Motley get over here pronto, there's trouble brewing. then "Situation under control." from Jim.

As Archeville scrutenizes the man he can tell there is something very wrong. The pause between the man's almost agreeance and his outright refusal to accompany the Resolutes is too contrary for Stockholm syndrome and even looking around the people gathered are much too calm for being held hostage...especially by a Super Villian.

Archeville backs away from the brown-suited man and stands next to Zenji (not really sure how far that'd be, could be all of 5 feet....). "Very well, sir, if that is your vish, ve vill not force zhe issue." The Super-Scientist tries to pull Zenji aside, hopefully to where none of the hostages can easily overhear.

"Mein freund," he whispers to Zenji, "I do believe zhat man -- indeed, all zhese people -- are under some form of mental influence. Evacuating zhem to zhe police in zheir current condition could be dangerous, zhey may put up a fight as zhey try to get back in, or vorse. Somezhing very odd is going on here, und... vell, zhat Staff of yours, it can dispel magical effects, ja? Do you zhink, if it is some form of magical mind-tampering, you could negate it? Or at least free a good portion of zhese people?"

Before, during, or after Archeville's assessment/suggestion (whichever the GM feels is most dramatically appropriate ;) ), sounds come from Jim the Illusionist's pockets. "Errr... or ve could leave zhem here, zhey don't seem to be an immediate danger, und go to zhe Lab....?"

The radio communications-both from Mr. Jones and from the guards, occured while Archeville was inspecting the man-your post is still valid though :D

Zenji whispers back to Archeville, "Yeah, defiitely something weird. I think we should go meet up with the others. But first..." Zenji turns around and addresses the crowd. "Good people, there is a situation we must attend to, but first I am going to... scan... you all for... internal hemmorhaging." Without hesitation, he quickly raises his staff into the air and a large cone of red light appears, sweeping over the crowd. "Uhh.... Good! You're all unharmed!"

The crowd mumers a bit, and the irrate professor closest to the Resolutes backs away quickly. Through the murmering Zenji and Archeville can hear a male voice say "Man, now I want to hit Him too."

OOC: D'oh! Yeah, guess the Electromagnetic Blaster really should be Lethal -- kinda hard to have a Non-Lethal laser or microwave blast or x-ray laser, even with rubbery comic book super-science ;)

OOC: Umm--Raylis, unless your house-ruling this something fierce, the default assumption of M&M 2nd edition is that all attacks are non-lethal unless the attacker specifies he's going to do lethal damage.
