As the light washes over the three sword wielding boys, Zenji and Archeville can see the Blade of Tanus lower a bit, it's gleam not as shiny as it was. The images remain.

Archeville's Turn

[sblock=Inner Monologue]The sword's glow dimmed... he must have tried to nullify whatever magics this illusionist is using. Smart thinking!

Yeah, shame it didn't work. Superstititous fools and their unreliable magics...

I don't hear any useful ideas coming from you

Like I said before, we shoot him in the face.

Yeah, which 'him'? This variable targeting system's still shot,so it's limited to only hitting one target at a time, and we don't know which one's which.

Don't we? Remember, the mind of Victor Archeville is the greatest weapon of all!

Well, don't shoot him in the face -- we may need to tlak to him later.

*sigh* Fine, fine...[/sblock]
Archeville diverts a substantial portion of his fantastic brainpower to amplify his perceptions, briefly seeing all reality as a complex series of energy matrices and hypermathematical equations, then fires at his foe's abdominal/torso region (and not his face). "Mock me, vill you?," he mutters under his breath.

OOC: Using Extra Effort to gain a Power Feat/Alternate Power on Archeville's Enhanced Int 10 -- Super-Senses 10 (True Sight [Vision Counters Concealment, Counters Illusion, Counters Obscure (all), Detect Hidden]). Using a Hero Point to offset the fatigue of the Extra Effort.

Attack roll, with Blast +12 (1d20+8 = 28) (Natural 20!)

Archeville points his blaster at the trio of pirate then turns it to point directly at the statue base, his aim apparently off by a doezen feet. He lets loose a blast....and the young man appears a few feet infront of the base at the blast strikes him dead center of the chest. As the blast hits the illusionary guards all around campus blink out of exsistance.

The force of the blast and the exact aim sends he boy flying off his feet and over the statue, crashing into a picnic table some 100 feet beyond the statue, where he slumps down clearly unconcious.

The Blade of Tanus lies on the ground at the base of the statue, none worse for the wear.

[sblock=Inner Monologue]Muah hah hah hah hah!!!

Oh my... perhaps that was a bit too much.[/sblock]

Archeville runs up to where the man fell, and checks to make sure he's still alive, leaving (the possibly bewildered) Zenji to reclaim the sword himself. If he needs stabilizing, Archeville attempts to do so.

"A clever plan... but not qvite clever enuff. Of course, now ve must find someplace to stash you, it von't do to just leave you here...."

Zenji begins to shout "What are you--" as Archeville aims in the odd direction, and then stands there stunned as the blast lands true.

"Wow, that was... that was impressive. How did you know he was there?"

The Arcane Antiquarian nearly forgets to grab his sword, but a quick wave of his staff and it's propelled to his hand.

Wow, I'm amazed. That 20 was just the icing on a brilliant cake. Massive kudos, man!

Zenji half-hears Archeville mutter something in German, but then the Super-Scientst cleared his throat and repeated himeslf, "None may oppose zhe law mitout facing zhe consequences, und in zhis case, ve are zhe consequences. Zhe mind of Victor Archeville is zhe greatest veapon of all, und it was, after a few moments study, able to pierce zhe illusions und see vhere our attacker truly lay."

"Now, once ve get zhis man stable -- yet keep him unconscious," Archeville stresses, "ve can continue on to zhe hostages. I believe zhe best bet vould be to carry him mit us as ve continue teleporting zhrough, zhen vhen I send the hostages to safety, ve send this one zhrough, too, straight to police custody."

[sblock]Yeah, probably my only 20 of the adventure, too ;) But, it was really, really cool :)[/sblock]

I am assuming that the ceasation of illusions had no effect on the scene Jones is looking at.

Raylis said:
Man, I wonder what the Minister is doing to those kids in there. He has that metal guy and that fast chick, you'd think they'd be enough...
Those don't look like any guns I know thinks Mr Jones, I wonder what they do. Maybe I can find out.
<?>
"I've found where the Minister is doing his experiments" reports Mr Jones. "We need to hurry. I saw the guards dragging a student inside."

[sblock=gm]
Mind Reading looking to find out what they have been told about thier weapons. Either by directly questioning or if it would not be obvious to the guard his thoughts were being directed use comunication and bluff to get him to think about his fancy gun.

My planning is that Mr Jones place a feeling that the gun is starting to get heavy in the guards mind so that he will think about it, the bluff being that the thought came up internally rather than being directed externaly.

Mind Reading (1d20+10=17)
Bluff Check to think about gun (2) (1d20+12=25)

[sblock=Asmor+HoV]Very nice fight, team work and everything![/sblock]

"Conscious, hmm? I don't think that sounds like a great idea, but you're the doctor." Zenji backs up and trains his staff on the foe, prepared to invoke its power at the slightest twitch.

[sblock=ooc rules question]
Don't have access to my book... Not sure if I can use a cover action with a non-damaging power, but if I can I'll cover him with my staff's telekinesis to grapple him.

Also, not 100% sure about how covering works, but it seems like I should be able to keep rerolling it every round (i.e. 6 seconds) until I find a result I like. Would it be acceptable spend 2 minutes "rolling" so I can take 20? In case you decide not, here's my result: Cover with grapple (1d20+10=21)
[/sblock]

"You're right, it's not a great idea," Archeville says, laying his hand barely on Zenji's staff so as to lower it slightly and hopefully gain Zenji's full attention, "vhich is vhy I specifically said UNconscious. Und, barring some outside interference, or unless this illusionist has some manner of regenerative ability, he should be out for some time."

OOC: Can Archeville tell (with a Medicine/Diagnosis roll, perhaps) how bad off the Illusioninst is? If he Takes 10, he gets a 15. Archeville wants to make sure he's not going to die, and isn't going to regain consciousness anyitme soon.

After checking on the Illusionist's condition, Archeville activates his comm, "Zenji und I haff subdued the Illusionist, so everyzhing you all see from here on should be qvite real. Ve are continuing on to free zhe hostages in zhe Commons."
