D&D 5E Rules are go!

I would like to make one complaint: The font they picked for the body text has characters with an inconsistent height. For example "s" is taller than most other lower-case characters, "t" is shorter than "i", etc.

Nitpicky but it is a little awkward to read for me.

This one made me chuckle:
Disclaimer: Wizards of the Coast is not responsible for the consequences of splitting up the
party, sticking appendages in the mouth of a leering green devil face, accepting a dinner
invitation from bugbears, storming the feast hall of a hill giant steading, angering a dragon
of any variety, or saying yes when the DM asks, “Are you really sure?”

It was a nice idea to 'simplify' the system - saving throws would just be a variety of skill or ability check. Generally though, more saving throw types mean more power to spellcasters to pick your worst. If they do reduce it again, then I would suggest Fort = Str+Con, Ref=Dex+Int and Will=Wis+Cha, and restore saving throws to 10+modifiers.

I think the solution is simply to make sure the classes are built correctly and aren't broken.
In no situation should you be able to get a Con and Wis save from the same class. You get a "good" save for spell effects, such as Con, Dex, or Wis; and then a "useless" save for those incidental things a DM can manage to think up on the fly.
Maybe Str, Int, and Cha are left in the lurch, but they have enough utility outside of saves to make them worth investing in.

Most of the time there's only one thing a character is good at saving against.

So far, so good. As long they are aware of not breaking multiclassing.

So I've only had a skim but I spotted mentions of Eldritch Knight and other prestige classes in the multiclassing section.

I'm gonna ragequit over the ice storm spell making me roll two, count them TWO, different die types. What were they thinking???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I know its only a joke complaint, but you know, that is quite clever; it means there are no arguments at all about which dice is which Damage type.

You have made me appreciate the system. ;o)

I have a question for people. Am I missing something? One of the precon Fighters in the Starter Set only added 2 to hit hitpoints at each level even though he had a 16 Con. I assumed that the hitpoints had changed in the final version. It appears not.

Am I missing something or is there no table of contents? That's kind of a drag. EDIT: OK, I found the sidebar TOC. Not super-detailed but it is better than nothing.

Other than that, just taking a brief glance, I love the look of the document - the fonts, word-count per page, etc.

Note that this is V .1. There's lots more to come and they'd have to continually edit a ToC or index. I expect we'll have one when the document is final.
