Rules citation? Flight and carrying capacity

I've seen it written on several threads that you can't fly with a medium or heavy load. Where does it say that in the rules? Indeed, the fly spell specifically mentions what happens if you have a medium or heavy load.

The rules say that if you have no more than a light load you fly at the indicated speed. They don't say whether having a medium load slows you down (as suggested by the fly spell), or if it keeps you from flying at all.

Where does it say that? I think we've just been inferring it, and the fly spell seems to be evidence to the contrary.

I've struggled with this one for a while as well, but finally fell to house ruling -- reduced movement & maneuverability by one level at medium load, no flight at heavy load.

In the MM II there are flying horses, the Asperi. They can fly with medium and heavy load, too, as an exception to the rule (whereever it stands).
