I'd say that a football player running around, juking, and keeping everyone off his ass is, in D&D combat terms
" ... not provoking AoOs, because his opponents aren't threatening his space."

I'd agree with that last. How many football player's have improved unarmed strike? I checked several player bios on espn.com and didn't see it listed once. :)

And for a real one, the ease of sundering worn items. A monk can have 50 touch AC, but you can sunder his belt by hitting AC 10+Dex+Size modifier for belt. Really? It's easier to cut off the monk's belt that it is to touch him?

I'd think it would be high on the list of desired feats, since an AoO is the simplest way to defeat a readied Grapple. And it's a prerequisite for Improved Grapple, which would also be a desired feat because of the number of players with IUS! :)

Hyp, are you sure one can ready a grapple and have it work?

Since once you touch the defender in step 2 with your readied standard action, step 3 is impossible since readying only gives you a standard action, move or free action.

Step 3: Hold. Make an opposed grapple check as a free action.

Armor Encumbrance - A STR30 FTR is slowed just as much in his Full Plate as a STR10 Cleric.

ASF - No matter how many levels that WIZ wears leather armor, its always got a chance of interfering with his cantrips

And on that note....Cantrips - No bonus for high stat and piddly numbers per day. Its about like saying after taking Calculus 410 I still need to do long division for 10/4.

It's not the weight of the armor, but the shape that restricts their movements. I don't know about the Arcane failure thing, but I figure it has to do with the same reason.

Wow, never thought about it before.
Totally makes sense paying double move through a friendly square - I'm totally using it next time I DM :]
(even nastier would be giving your friend an AC penalty until next round :uhoh: )

I've used this interpretation for years. The rules say obstacles hinder movement. Since when is a 200 lb. half-orc not an obstacle? I occassionally waive it for smaller characters, like small or tiny.

-1 to -9 you're bleeding out 1 hit point at a time: often times, if someone goes down, the other say "well, he's at -3, we got plenty of time to kill all the bad guys and come bind his wounds at -9." so I sit there for an hour going "ok, rolling for stabilization..crap, -5, next"

That is one reason it is important to separate in-character knowledge from out-of-character knowledge. If an ally goes down, my cleric doesn't know how many rounds he has to live (even a status spell isn't that specific, although I believe a greater status spell is). And you can bet my cleric will make a beeline for that character and make sure he is stable and conscious ASAP 1) because we need as many people fighting as possible and 2) since I don't know his hp total, he might be at -9 as well as -1 and it isn't worth the risk.

Eliminate meta-gaming and the problem is solved. Next time you go down, don't blurt out your hp total. Simply describe what happens: your character falls unconscious after being wounded. That might provide a bit of incentive for your allies to get to you more quickly. IMC, unconscious characters keep rolling stabilize checks every round, even AFTER they are dead because the other players don't necessarily have time to check for a pulse until after combat is over.
