[RUMORS]Buffy new season... When?

Well, if the theory, that Dawn could/will become the next Slayer, than the Death of Faith might be "neccessary", especially if Buffy can no longer "pass" the Slayer abilities...

Anyway, I know that this month, the season that finished this spring/summer in America will begin in Germany, and I am looking forward to it. Unfortunately, not together with Angel... (though in Germany it is still the same channel).

Dawn becoming the next Slayer? Funny, I came up with that idea over a year ago, but my friends shot it down. Dawn the Vampire Slayer just doesn't have that ring to it though...I wonder if that would make her the first non-human Slayer? Can a non-human become a Slayer?

Any new news on the rumours of an animated series? Last year there was talk about this and having it center around Dawn, but bascially redoing the first season but having Dawn in it and as the main character.

Evidence for the Dawn-as-Slayer theory (one of my pet Buffy theories for a long time)(Spoilers Included) :

1. If, due to the method of her creation, her being the key makes Buffy also the key, slayerness might pass through the bond as well. If she were to have slayer powers because of that, they would be starting to develop around this season, as she is now the right age for them to start manifesting.

2. In the season finale of S6, after Buffy finally lets Dawn fight (and she does pretty well for someone with absolutely no training , fighting monsters for the first time), Buffy starts crying and seems to have some kind of flash realizations, and she says "I have seen the woman that you will become...And you will be powerful...I have so much to show you."

3.It is confirmed that in S7, Buffy will teach Dawn how to fight, and she will become a full-time Scooby. It is also confirmed that, along with friends Kit and Carlos, she will lead a new generation of Scoobies at the newly-rebuilt Sunnydale High nicknamed (not sure if on the show, maybe just by those who talk about it) the "Scrappy Gang" (After the bizarro Scooby gang in the original cartoon)

4. Less important, but some foreshadowing about her following Buffy's path: Compare the incident with Justin to Buffy and Angel (esp when Dawn kills Justin to when Buffy sends Angel to hell). Also when Dawn goes and takes the eggs from that monster while spike fights it, hew refers to her as a "Bitty Buffy."

5. Some who follow the Dawn as Slayer theory tie it to the Spike as Watcher theory. Considering Spikes recent acquisition of a soul and the nature of their relationship up until now, the two certainly seem to come together.

6. THIS IS MORE SPECULATIVE: Perhaps the inclusion of Faith means that Dawn will find out that she is next in line, and then plot to kill Faith for her power. Being that Dawn is somewhat morally ambiguous and prone to extreme ideas, its possible that she will rationalize this power grab by using Faith's past actions as an excuse.

Ouch, not sure about your speculative #6 there. As morally ambiguous as she might be, shoplifting to murder is a bit of a jump...though I do agree that likely Faith is coming back to be killed off.

Out right murder does seem a little far fetched. Howeever, possible not being there to prevent her death, or other lesser action that someone helps in Faith's death would not be out of line. It doesn't have to be 100% intential either.

On a similiar note, does Buffy live through the season? I'm guessing no.

In an interview, Joss once said he liked the sound of Dawn, The Vampire Slayer...

Not sure if he was joking or not...

As popular as Buffy has become, I am very surprise a cartoon hasn't already been made.

I never said that I consider it THAT likely, but note that the nature of the Key remains unclear. What IS known is that it is an exceedingly-old ball of universe-destroying energy. Also Dawn's buffy-half is good, her key half might indeed be evil. True, she hasn't done anything to harm anyone, just stealing, breaking into places, and dabbling in black magic, that may only be because she is not yet particularly capable of harming people.
She clearly lusts after power. She has always wanted to fight like Buffy and cast spells like Willow. She even tries to raise the dead as her first attempt at magic, being impatient in her path to power.

HOWEVER, I am hoping, and thinking, that she is probably good overall. I actually look forward to a Law-Chaos alignment conflict between the Scoobies and the Scrappies.

Buffy dies? Noooo, not going to happen. If and when there is a new Slayer, BtVS is over and we'll have a spinoff. You see what happened to the X-Files when they went and changed the main characters...

You think Buffy will be able to retire? While it's something she has talked about, I just don't see that happening. With the long theme of bad things happen to Buffy, the only way I can see this ending is with her death.
