Grogg of the North
Adventurer
Currently, the PCs are racing against a group of devils and a powerful demon in search of the magical macguffin. It is very likely that all three groups will arrive at (nearly) the same time at the next clue's location. I see the PCs arriving to the clue's location, the demon surrounded by devils and fighting wildly. However, neither side has noticed the PCs yet. Does anyone have any advice on running a three sided encounter? The only things I can think to address are:
1) If the PCs do nothing who wins?
2) If the PCs aid a side, are they betrayed in the end? Will either side attempt to convince them to help? (Bribes, truce, etc.)
3) What would drive one side to attack the PCs if they're already engaged in combat? A good spot for an AoE, AoO's or the PCs going for the macguffin, perhaps?
