"Rurouni Kenshin" DVD

My daughter really likes this show and wants to get it on DVD.

So, I go online to check it out, and it seems like there are a million different "Rurouni Kenshin" DVDs.

Does anyone know which DVD set contains the same episodes shown on "The Cartoon Network" in the U.S.?

She is saving up her own money to buy it, and at $130, this is a major purchase for her. I just don't want her to be disappointed and end up buying some 10th-season-cruddy-story-arc-garbage instead of the show she loves. The one we saw in the stores appears to be the "Wandering Samurai - Premium Box" shown here. I think this is the one she needs....

Any assitance in helping this befuddled anime-impaired father is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There are two versions of Ruruni Kenshin:

1) The OVA (or Samurai X) is a prequel. You don't want this.

2) There are multiple TV seasons of Kenshin, this is on CN and what you want.

I would suggest buying from Anime Corner Store. They are very good.

You can get the Deluxe DVD box set of TV episode 1 for $110

That's the box set for the first season, they have shown the first two seasons on Cartoon Network, there are three seasons of the show, I have not seen any of the third season but it's supposibly a dropoff from the second. All the shows have been out on DVD for a while, they are doing box sets of the seasons now, that is the first of three box sets, the second season box set is due out 3/30/04. There are also the Samurai X OVA's and movie which is Rurouni Kenshin stuff too but it's a little more adult, the first Samurai X OVA set is the Prequel to the show (before he made the vow not to kill), it is a wonderful story and the animation is great but it is set during the time he was killing people left and right. The Samurai X movie is pretty good and I haven't seen the second Samurai X OVA (they are just called Samurai X in America because of distribution rights).

This is the same one shown on Cartoon Network. My husband got it for me for Christmas since I too am an anime freak.
