S1: The Strange Case of Aif Jenkins' Farm (E13 judge) - Concluded

"But don't worry, no wolf can jump over this wall."
"Well, that means we have nothing to worry about", said Boog, as much to Toler as to anyone else. He turned and walked away, as if a member of a city watch had just declared, "Shows over! Nothing left to see, move along now!"

Once he had walked out of the range of that cursed chiming, he turned as if one of the howls had caught his attention, and paused, seemingly looking at the palisade. But once again, he surreptitiously invoked one of his Powers, this time the one that allowed him to read the mind of his target.[sblock=OoC: ]Boog will retreat to a distance of just over 15' and manifest Read Thoughts, DC 15 Will Save negates. Boog will try to maneuver the cone to scan only Toler, but will include Rafferty if it is impossible to scan Toler alone. He'll include others in the scan, but only if necessary. Attempt to suppress the mental display is successful, d20+9=21. 23/34 PP remaining.[/sblock]

Beamer mutters, "I can't do much from here." He recalls Louie and heads back where he is more likely to avoid anything that might jump the wall or batter down the gate (I9). He has had enough wierd things happen to him to be less than confident in Bill's assertions of safely.

OoC: The location you have for Boog is just about perfect.

Boog was undaunted by Toler's resistance to his Power. As soon as he was confident that the man and his companion were showing no outward signs of suspecting that he was the source of the Power, Boog dropped that emanation, then summoned that same power again. There must be a way through to the man's mind! Boog was growing flustered, as he falied to suppress that infernal mental chime.[sblock=OoC: ]The power lasts for up to 5 minutes (with concentration), but once someone makes their save, you can sweep the cone back and forth over them without any luck. I think that means the only way Boog can force Toler to make another save is to spend the PP to pull up the power again. So, Read Thoughts again, DC 15 Will save. Roll to suppress display is d20+9=12, failure. 20/34 PP remaining.

And looking at the map, if Boog angles the cone off to the east, the wall of the building will shield Rafferty's mind from the effect. But I don't see how he can sweep Toler without getting at least Eusebius and Bill in the effect.[/sblock]

Boog doesn't get a chance to recast his mind reading ability. Action hits almost immediately after Bill sights the wolves.

Surprise round:
Toler and Rafferty's eyes meet once the wolves approach the gate. Suddenly Toler jabs out with his sword, catching Bill in the stomach. The sword travels up through his body, and he drops limply to the earth. Simutaneously, Rafferty steps forward on the platform and releases the catch on the wench, causing the main door to creak open. Over the next round, it will fall to the ground, leaving the way open for the wolves to enter the compound.

Initiatives
Eusebius
Beamer
Rafferty
Wolves
Boog
Juliana (fully armored)
Toler
Banion

Round 1: Eusebius & Beamer up. No one can currently see over the gate as it is falling. So no one can actually see any wolves.

With Boog's warning, Beamer is ready for the sudden change of events, though he is too slow to save Bill. He smoothly grabs a pinch of mica from his pouch and tosses it forth, causing a glittering cloud to burst around Toler and Rafferty.

OOC: If Eusebius moves forward first, I think Beamer can still target the glitterdust at about the gate and avoid catching Eusebius in the effect.
DC 15 Will save or be blinded for 4 rounds.
Regardless of save, they have -40 to hide for 4 rounds.

Juliana, clad in her adamantine plate and Guisarme drawn, draws forth her senses as she focuses on her attacks, and her soon to be opponent's movements. She steps forward to the gate as she does so (I14).

OOC: Offencive Prescience, 4PP, +3 to DMG. Guisarme (Reach) +7, 2d4+7, 20x3
