S1: The Strange Case of Aif Jenkins' Farm (E13 judge) - Concluded

"Huh. That was the paladin? Well, that should make it easier... at least we've seen them.... Julianna, is it? So what do you think, shall we join forces?"

Eusebius listens to Boog's news. Encouraged to know that they at least have a lead on Torvin, his heart is nevertheless grim when he considers what occurred last night.

"Join us, and welcome! We will need such able adventurers as yourselves. Never doubt that there will be ample reward in the service of the Shining One."

"It's not up to me, I'm not the one financing this trip," Juliana replies.

"Now that we're complete, we should head to where the man was going," Juliana says. "If he's gone and left, at least he's likely to have left a trail."

Banion considers the possibilities. He's still bothered by the coincidence of Beamers wolf sounds and the wolves responding. Another possible explanation occurs to him.

"Hey, Beamer... what put the idea of wolves in your head for the distraction? Did someone mention wolves to you at some point?"

He also comes up with a question for Brother Eusebius, who Julianna appears to have indicated is leading the expedition.

"Perhaps if you told us more about the mission, our next objective would be clearer. What's going on with this paladin we're looking for? Were you given any suggestions on how or where to locate him?"

ooc: If Banion had all the pieces of the puzzle, he'd be inclined to head for the silverwood rather than Braeholl, but having missed the listen check and not having received the mission briefing he's not likely to be much help in deciding where to go.

"I don't know why I thought of wolves. I figured it was the easiest thing to explain if Boog's trick didn't work. Much easier than men shouting or a wagon crash or, well, about anything else. That spell, though effective, doesn't give me a lot ot work with. Can any of you follow a trail? I'm afraid I'm no good at such things. It would seem the wolf ambush must have been planned before Toler and Rafferty ever arrived and perhaps my spell merely accellerated the process. I would like find out more about why I was nearly mauled to death by a wolf."

OOC: I really have no idea why I was thinking of wolves. It could have been a subconscious Trimble connection from the Faerie Woods, though I didn't make that connection until the combat was almost over. I think it was more along the lines of the explanation above. I haven't read the mission briefing so I'm as clueless as Beamer. :)

Well, this game's pretty stalled. Maybe we're waiting for El Jefe's opinion, but you guys need to make a plan of some sort, then I'll move on with the action!

OoC: Boog's perspective is that the halflings have one goal and that Eusebius has another, and to the extent that they conicide he'll do whatever the group as a whole does. If forced to choose, he'd go with Eusebius and Juliana.

Now, had anyone asked him, he'd have opined that since Torvin was headed to Braeholl, the trail is likely warmest there.
