Beamer quickly moves into the hut. He runs up behind Eusebius and casts mage armor on the priest. "I should have done this earlier."

OOC:
Hopefully Beamer can cast from a safe position since only one enemy has a melee weapon. If not, Beamer's concentration check is +8. Esubius AC now 19.
Spells remaining:
0th: 5, 1st: 3, 2nd: 2
Mage armor still in effect: AC 19
Bolts fired: 1[/Size=1]

OOC: I have a reach weapon, so if I'm in a 15'x15' room, I should get an AoO for an archer in that space...

They shoot before you actually enter the room. We do need to go back to initiative order here. I'll roll. results:
Eusebius 25
Beamer 20 (& higher dex)
enemy humans 20
Banion 14
Orcs 11
Juliana 9

Round 1
Eusebius steps forward 5 feet, into the hut/cave & strikes at an archer with his spiked chain. He can see the men better now. They wear studded leather under light brown tunics. Each wears a yellow bandana around his neck (had I said red before?), inscribed with strange markings. (anyone speak Ignan?). They fight skillfully, and avoid Eusebius' chain.

Beamer closes in from behind, managing to close the distance to his friend, and casts mage armor on Eusebius. (I hope everyone's keeping track of their own spells/power points; I'm hopelessly lost on it. I have been keeping track of HPs.)

The human archers realize the uselessness of bows in the cramped quarters, and drop the composite short bows they've been using. They pull long curved swords off their backs and assume a defensive posture.

Banion leaves the trees and runs across the open field to where his friends have disapeared into the shed. He must cross about 100 feet. I'll assume he makes a double move to keep some defense.

The two archers hidden down the passage fire at Eusebius again. They miss again, one bouncing off his new 'armor'. Outside, the two archers in the trees have a new target and fire at Banion. Neither arrow hits.

The orc in the hut leaps at Juliana with his axe, Juliana tries to intercept it with her guisarme, but her blade defects off its chainmail. Eusebius also manages to whip his chain about, but it also can't penetrate the orc's armor. The orc takes a swing at Juliana, smacking her for 6 pts(that's 3 after DR, right?)

Juliana up in round 1. then others round 2. Here's the HP totals I have:
Juliana 30/45
Eusebius 32/27
Beamer 11/17
Banion 40/40

Banion needs to cross 100', and at a double move he can cross 40'. Can he run, in order to cross 80', enabling him to get there next round?

Being an easier target once instead of a harder target twice would be preferable, especially as they might not immediately recognize Banion as a threat, being potentially more concerned with the more dramatic warrior leaving their field of view.

OoC: Ok, all, I'm back. Sorry for the long delay...I had more RL crap to deal with than anyone would want to see in a lifetime.[sblock=Manz: ]Ah, so where is Boog now? I understand he rode off not very long before the second attack. Would he have been able to hear and respond?

If so, I guess a secondary problem would be figuring out his status.[/sblock]

Beamer is fraught for a moment with indecision, but quickly reacts to the situation.

If Juliana's attack does not fell the orc, step back and cast acid splash on it.

If Juliana's attack does fell the orc, use wand of scorching ray on an uninjured archer turned swordsmen in the room. Then move to a position where Eusebius provides cover from the archers in the tunnel.

OOC: Touch attack (1d20+8=18) either way. Damage is either 1d3+1=4 for acid splash or 4d6+1=16 for scorching ray. Note Beamer has precise shot so there's no penalty for attacking into melee, but the opponent may have soft cover.

Welcome back, El Jefe!

[sblock=OOC]OK, here's one of those conditional IF ... THEN ... ELSE type of posts.

If the orc is still standing, then attack him with flurry of blows.

Else move to the two at the side and attack with flurry of blows. (Sorry, Beamer, no cover for you.)

If one of the two is wounded, concentrate on that one, and then attack the other if the first one drops.

Else concentrate on the nearest foe and pummel him into the ground.

Hmm, is there room to move so that they cannot easily flank him? Try to achieve that.[/sblock]

general OOG: [sblock] Looks like my posting rate will be slow over Spring Break. I can't seem to put one together at the moment. Hopefully tomorrow. I'd had boog ride off, but am happy to have him back. Glad to have you back, El Jefe. I could either assume Boog has stayed with the others the whole time, or I could give him some incentive to return to the party. I'll give it a little more thought.[/sblock]

Round 1(con't)
Juliana steps back and strikes down the orc. (how many has she killed now?)

Round 2
Eusebius steps forward, over the body of the fallen orc, and unleashes a flurry of blows with his hands at the falchion-weilding man. He manages only a minor hit, doing negligible damage (2 pts).

Beamer aims his wand at the other human, and blasts forth with a ray of fire. The man is engulphed in flame. He screams in agony and terror, stumbling forward, dropping his weapons, then collapsing into a smoldering heap.

The remaining man screams something in an unknown language and brings his flachion down double handed at the monk, but Eusebius dodges instinctively, hardly even noticing.

Banion redoubles his speed, making no effort to avoid the arrows flying at him from the trees. He is relieved to reach the shed w/o taking any hits. However, when he enters the shed, his troubles are not over.

He sees, as does everyone else, that there was once a door at the end of the hut where it becomes a cave entrance. A large door of heavy oak and banded iron rests on the ground where it was beaten off its hinges by some sort of battering ram. From the darkness beyond where this door once stood guard more archers await. There is a space to the West of the doorway where the remaining yellow-bandana man stands, where the arrows cannot reach. But currently, the entire party is fair game. Two arrows fly out at Beamer, almost as soon as he enters. Even in his hurried state neither arrow hits him.

Meanwhile, Juliana has backed out of the shed, and has made herself a target for the archers hidden outside in the trees. She can hear the high whine of the shafts as the fly past her. One bounces off her heavy mail.

Juliana up, then round 2. Let's assume Boog, his mindlink still operative, has changed his mind, and decided the group still needs his help. He has riden back to the second shed on the North side of the hill, dismounted, and is now outside beside Juliana. He can act right after Beamer, and before the enemy human.

The gray area on the map represents dim light from Eusebius' ring. The black area has no light. I believe Euseibus is providing the only light for the group now.
