S1: The Strange Case of Aif Jenkins' Farm (E13 judge) - Concluded

Only I can stop them from warning the rest of the compound that they have been overcome. Beamer moves foward. He has already cast more spells than ever before, but still feels some arcane energy remains in his small body. He reaches into his pouch and casts forth a handful of ground mica and his most powerful spell. Blinding motes of light explode around the two archers.

OOC:
Move forward to just behind Eusebius. Cast glitterdust (DC 15) centered at the back corner so both archers are in the burst and Juliana is not.

0th: 4, 1st: 2, 2nd: 1
Mage armor still in effect: AC 19
Bolts fired: 1

It's a move action to 'draw' your crossbow, and another to load it. I would say you can't effectively carry it loaded if its not in your hand.

Round 4 (con't)
Eusebius draws and loads his crossbow.

Beamer moves up and tries to catch the two archers in a blinding rain. It is an effective tactic, as it is quickly evident that both have been blinded.

Round 5
[Banion goes here - probably throws a mindblade. What the heck. I'll assume this is what he does. The blade flies true, wounding archer 5 (6 pts dmg)]

Juliana switches to her heavy flail, and slowly moves onto the edge of the pit. She finds the going difficult and has to stop and windmill her arms to keep from falling. (no progress this round)

The two archers stumble back into the hallway behind the door, which they had already opened. They shout in orcish. Even those who don't speak orcish can tell that they have switched languages, and can probably identify it as orcish considering how many orcs they've met recently.

[orcish][sblock]"Help! They're breaking through!"[/sblock]

Round 5 summary
monk cultists (all dead)
Banion (32/40 hps)
Juliana (26/45 hps)
archer cultists (two left, blind)
Eusebius (28/37 hps) <---
Beamer (11/17 hps)
Boog (17/29 hps) - NPCed - essentially inactive in rear.

OOC: Note that blinded creatures move at half speed. They both moved 20 feet last round, which may be half speed, but may not so I thought I'd point it out.

IC: Beamer stores his wand and moves forward (behind Juliana) while drawing his crossbow.

Round 5 (con't)
Eusebius misses with his crossbow bolt.
Beamer moves up behind Juliana
Round 6
Banions steps forward and hurls his mindblade, this time dropping the archer he'd hit before.
Juliana catches her balance and takes another step. For whatever reason, this step falls wrong, and Juliana tumbles into the pit with a shout. At this point, the bottom of the pit is visible. It is about 10 feet deep, and studded with rusty spikes. Juliana strikes two of the spikes, scraching her through her armor, though not badly (5 pts total).

Walking the ledge requires a balance check of 15, per SRD balance rules for a 4 inch wide ledge. Feel free to roll yourself. I rolled a 1 for Juliana, sadly. I did apply her DR to the fall dmg and to each of the spikes.

The last archer stumbles further away, and out of sight of the party. The area beyond the door is not lit. He is still shouting, and now a blast of a horn can be heard from beyond him.

Round 6 summary
monk cultists (all dead)
Banion (32/40 hps)
Juliana (21/45 hps) (in pit)
archer cultists (one left, blind)
Eusebius (28/37 hps) <---
Beamer (11/17 hps)
Boog (17/29 hps) - NPCed - essentially inactive in rear.

Beamer winces at the loud crash as Juliana falls into the pit. "Do we have any rope? Someone help her out of there." Beamer loads his crossbow and readies an action to fire at anyone visible through the door.

OOC: +7 to hit, 1d6 damage. +1/+1 if within 30 feet.
