S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

Banion would still like to go in first, but hopes to avoid being hit by the glitterdust.

"I've spent enough time being blind, lately." He says.

Rasereit will go in the front. He doesn't care whether Reinert or Trimble stay or come, just as long as they're towards the middle of the group and buffered from a pincer attack if one should occur.

"I'll go in with you, Banion. If there's a need to take someone down an' be able to ask 'em questions later... I'm your man." Ogrin shows them a small sack filled with lead pellets. He'll keep the sap in is off hand, preferring his long sword in his main hand. "Let's try to flank any enemies that come too close, eh?"

"Razh, you're our backup. Beamer, save the glitter-thingy 'till we know what we're dealin' with. If it's just a scout, or an outcast, I think we could take 'em with little effort. If it tries to run, blind it and Razh can run it down with ease."

Ogrin takes a swig of water and then starts towards the cave, unless someone objects.

OOC: My suggestion for a marching order. First me and Banion, sneaking. Then Razh around 20-30 feet behind and the others just behind Razh.

Ogrin has Move Silently +11 and Hide +10 and will take 10 as well.

The group it too noisy on its approach, perhaps, as the the small figure is awake when Razh gets to the cave. Razh can see the little figure, which is clearly not a goblin. In fact, it appears to be a female halfling. She is very pretty, dressed in tight, practical clothing, and carrying a dagger & sling. Razh can also see a large black dog, not a wolf, standing further back, hackles raised.

"Who are you?" the halfling asks suspiciously.

Reinert and Trimble drift to the back of the group.

Eusebius steps forward.

"Benedicite! I am Eusebius, priest of the Shining One, follower of the Purifying Fist. These are my companions. We are here because we've been told of a pack of wolves plaguing the countryside. Your companion is clearly no wolf - and you are not the goblin rider we were expecting. Of your courtesy, please tell us your name."

If she relaxes after Eusebius speaks, Beamer will stay nothing and instead stay in the back eyeing the huge dog.

If she still looks suspicious, Beamer moves forward hoping a fellow halfling can help bridge the difference. She says, "He speaks the truth. I'm Beamer and we're just here to help."

The halfling gazes suspiciously as the group speaks. Slowly a smile crosses her face. "Beamer. Eusebius." She steps forward. "You're actually just who I was looking for. Let's give them a big hello, shadow."

The dog then sets to braying, and it is not the bark of an earthly creature. It's howl seems to cut through to the depths of the brains, filling each person with fear. Is it this fear that causes the halfling's form to sway? The small figure grows and darkens, as it reaches its clawed hands towards Beamer...

Everyone make Will save DC 13 or become panicked for 5 rounds. A successful Sense motive roll (add HD to result) of 21 allows you to act in the surprise round. Roll your initiative as well.
