S3: The Scythe of Seto (Bront Judging)[Completed]

Rasereit begins to slow as his clone's successful strikes take their toll. Rasereit the Second's magical waraxe is as deadly as the real Rasereit's, and our relentless barbarian is finally getting a taste of his own medicine.

Swinging and blocking, using their shields for offense as much as defense, the two dwarves are practically mirror images of each other, anticipating impossible cuts, striking normally hidden weak points, and adding even more scars to their already heavily marred bodies.

Rasereit's usually incredible endurance is wearing thin. His twin, with vicious speed, cuts past Rasereit's shield and towards his vulnerable neck. Rasereit blocks with his axe arm, his sturdy dwarven bone stopping the axe in its tracks but receiving a deep cut in return. Rasereit screams through the pain.

Though the angry clone is slowing down, so too is Rasereit, and he again fails to raise his shield in time to block the second axe swipe. This one cuts underneath his chin, lopping off a large segment of his beard at the same time. Blood flies into the air, and Rasereit lets out a voiceless gasp.

He stumbles unexpectedly, and his twin's shield swipes the empty air above him. Too tired and injured to bring himself to his full height, Razh swings his axe from here.

Once, blocked by his twin's heavy shield.

Twice, a terrible miss, easily avoided by the other dwarf. The terrible wound to Rasereit's right arm has effectively disabled it.

Rasereit has one last chance to finish off his twin before it finishes him. He dives forward, his right arm limp, and slams his spiked shield into the leg of his brutal counterpart.

[sblock=The Suspenseful Conclusion... ]The leg is well protected by tightly strapped greaves. The spikes cannot penetrate the magically reinforced metal. But in his savage rage, the twin's engorged muscles have created a gap between the metal plates of the greaves, out of which has emerged a single bulging vein.

One of Rasereit's shield spikes pierces this vein, and an enormous amount of blood spurts from it. The clone falls to one knee, his leg incapacitated by the wound. Rasereit gives him a hard shove with his own leg, knocking the clone over. Then he whacks the clone across the head with his shield, hard.

Rasereit, already on the ground, collapses. His strength is spent, and his battle fury, exhausted. The clone looks forward, dazed, and then goes limp. The only thing keeping him alive is the remnants of rage coursing through his body.

[sblock=OOC: ]Apologies for the long post, but Rasereit was 1 point away from missing on all three attacks! If Razh II hadn't been raging... Phew.

EDIT: It seems I've rolled under my DM name "DM Rae" instead of "Rasereit". A search on IC for DM Rae and Rasereit will reveal that I only rolled once.[/sblock][/sblock]

Banion, keeping an eye on the threat behind him, will take a few experimental swings at the door he came through earlier, seeing if he can chop it down and gain more maneuvering room.

Back from my extended vacation, but PbP posting isn't the only thing I'm behind on. I'll post for you lot one at a time as best as I'm able...

------------
Banion is unable to do any damage to either of the doors with his mindblade. His only evident way to progress is to go by the knight statue thing.

-----------

Ogrin...

How much of the hallway does the statue take up? For example, is it a 10'x50' hallway, with a large statue taking up the last 10'x10'?

Banion finds himself in a short corridor, about 15 feet wide, and 30 feet long. There is a door at each end. In front of the far door is what appears to be a large armored man. He, if it is a he, is wearing black half-plate armor, with a red tunic. He stands so still, Banion wonders if it may be a statue. He holds a greatsword, point down, resting on the floor.

Ok, found this. I guess my question is whether the statue is medium or large.

Ogrin approaches the door. He hears nothing behind it. Trying the handle, it appears locked. He pulls out his picks and slides one in the keyhole. Immediately a small scythe blade pops out, nicking the back of his hand. He jerks back. The wounds is very minor, but the smell is suspicious. The scythe blade retracts into the handle base, and Ogrin feels pain wrack through him. The pain is quickly over.

[Ogrin loses 10 hps, bringing him to 41 of 52, I believe]

Cursing his carelessness, Ogrin examines the door again. After a time, he comes to believe their are several traps on this lock. There is some kind of coil inside the keyhole, as well. The lock seems complex. It is probably not impossible to get through this door, but it would be difficult and dangerous.

He straightens, and flexes his back and arms for the next round, when suddenly he hears a noise. Heavy footfalls are coming from behind the door where he stands.
