There is no advantage to hit.

Hypnotic pattern charms and incapacitates a creature. Neither condition grants advantage.
My bad, I mixed it up with hold monster. I've gotta stop posting when it's way past my bedtime. I swear I don't make this many mistakes in a normal face-to-face game.

As for the damage, I listed each roll separately just in case I made a mistake about the crit, so I'll just take the first roll each time. The weapon damage is 2 + 8 = 10, and the sneak attack is 30, bringing the revised total to 40.

I will then use my bonus action to disengage and step back 10 feet.

Alvin heaves a sigh of resignation as he squares down the beast, and his blade lashes out thrice more at the great leathery chest of the thing. "Fine then. I suppose I have never heard of a dragon in red turning to a life of mercy."

There is no need for your attacks Cleric, as now we have the Rogues damage, the Fighters last shot brings the dragon down.

As he does so, the Githyanki ship, its helm ruined by the Cleric earlier finally breaks away from the Kyuss' Folly, dragging the Dragons body with it into the Astral, to the loud cheers of the crew, who look at you all with admiration.

Grogbeard approaches the party. Wiping blood from his face from a small cut, he speaks:

'Aye, a good fight indeed me mateys!'

''We shall be setting sail again shortly, and will reach the color pool in around an hours time. Take your rest below; you've earnt it!''

Unless anyone wants to do anything over the next hour as the ship closes in on the Color Pool, you can all have a Short rest.

I presume the Bard uses his song of rest feature for anyone spending HD (+1d10).

Otherwise I'll wait until all players have checked in, with HD rolls and an updated list of Long rest resources used (including HD).

I've recovered:

[1]+[1]+[5]+[2]+[3]+[5]+[2]+[5]+[4]+9x3+[1](SoR 1d10)=56
Add the recently cast Prayer of Healing: 15

Current HP = 101
Temp HP=20

I'm going to spend 2 2nd-level slots to gain 4 sorcery points.

That's a total of an expended

2 1st level slots.
2 2nd level slots
1 4th-level slot
1 6th-level slot
28 charges of the Dragon Staff

Alvin almost collapses on the deck of the ship, and gratefully accepts the help of any crewman that want to help him get below deck. If a comfy cot is available, he settles wearily into it and begins to carefully tend his wounds: the gashes of blades and draconic burns are soothed away with gentle prayers, while the less serious are simply bound with strips of sturdy cloth.

One everyone has tended to their own wounds, he sets his things down upon the same table they ate their feast at. He pours a small bag of sand onto it, then draws a simple horizon and sunset with one finger. Little squiggles make up the sun's rays.

"Lathander. Morninglord. Lord of Light. The warming rays of dawn that signal countless waking souls to a new day. Please illuminate the path to salvation for the Great Wheel, and all that live within it. What is the best way to stop the Arcane Engine?"

And then he breathes out upon the sand, and waits...

Have I noticed any of the crewmembers spellcasting during the fight (our crewmembers, not the enemy). Like Grogbeard or the Giff?

''The night is always darkest before the dawn. To find the path to light and salvation for all, you must deal with a devil in the pit of despair. Your compassionate heart shall show you the way, and the light of Lathander shall be your beacon.''

Grogbeard fought with panache and flair, exchanging witty one liners with the Githzerai as he fought with his rapier and dagger. Mr Christian used brute force a his 'boom stick' and spent a fair bit of time barking orders, and the rest of the crew either fought mainly with guile (the halflings) or rage (the Orcs).

They worked as a pretty coherent team.

You noticed no spellcasting.
