[Savage Species] Equip my gargoyle PC!

I don't have my DMG handy (I'm at work and this is one of those tables I can't find in the SRD). I want to outfit a 9th level PC. To make it more complicated, the PC in question is a gargoyle.

Can anyone give me either

A) The baseline value in GP of a 9th level PCs eqipment?

and/or

B) Suggestions for the kinds of equpment a gargoyle might have?

Here's my PC. Obviously he needs a magic scythe and a magic bow.

Tharnok
9th Level Gargoyle

Str 12 (+1)
Dex 20 (+5)
Con 22 (+6)
Int 10 (+0)
Wis 10 (+0)
Cha 7 (-2)

AC: 19 (+5 Dex, +4 Natural Armor); HD: 4d10 +24 (59 hp); BAB: +4; Melee: +5; Ranged: +9; Fort +6, Ref +9, Will +0

SQ: Earth subtype, Natural Armor: +4, Freeze (Ex), DR: 15/+1, Fly 75’ (average), Claws: 1d4+1, Bite: 1d6+1, Gore: 1d6+1

Feats: Martial Weapon Proficiency (Scythe), Martial Weapon Proficiency (Composite Shortbow)
Skills:
Listen +4 (+0)
Spot +2 (+0)
Hide: +6 (+5): +11 (+19 against stone)
Move Silent +1 (+5)

(edit: traded light armor proficiency for a martial weapon : composite short bow proficiency)

This is how difficult this is! :)

The amulet of natural armor won't stack with his existing natural armor, he can already fly (he's a gargoyle), and he lacks armor proficiencies (which nix the plate mail as well as armor would hinder the natural flying ability).

Thank you for the suggestion though, Smurf!

Yeah, but you have to plan ahead, in case he gets polymorphed into a halfling, and has to masquerade as a really short paladin!

I came up with this Scythe:

+2 Scythe of Wielding: (32,318 gp. )

And this bow:
+2 mighty composite Shortbow (+1 Str bonus) of Flaming Burst
(32,500 gp)

50 +2 arrows (8000 gp)

Is this too munchkiny for a 9th level character?

THANK you, that is exactly the information I was looking for. Ok, look like I have to revise his scythe and bow.

Okay, here's my revised equipment picks:

+1 Scythe of Wounding -- (18,318gp)
+2 mighty composite Shortbow (+1 Str bonus)-- (8450 gp)
50 +2 arrows (8020 gp)

Total Equipment: 34,788 gp

For a monster like a Gargoyle that is probably going to be focused on melee combat, I would try not to spend your precious feats on either weapon or armor profeciencies. Just see if you can make it to next level, and multiclass as fighter. Improved flight would be another good feat to consider instead.

Since you have basically a 4th level character with a 9th level group, I would concentrate on ways to keep your character alive. The following items are pretty cheap, and leave room for you to blow the rest on one larger magic weapon, or maybe an Amulet of Magical Fang, in case you

Bracers of Health (+2) 4k
Cloak of Resistance (+2) 4k or 9k for +3
Gloves of Dexterity (+2) 4k
Ring of Protection (+1) 2k or 8k for +2

Since your AC is so low, be sure to get the party mage to cast Mage Armor on you.

If you are gonna go for archery with this guy, then Bracers of Archery are a must. Buy the best bow you can, but don't waste money on arrows, because thats what Greater Magic Weapon is for.

Good call! Ok on the feats. Especially since Bracers of Archery grant bow-proficiency for free.

The gloves might not work with the gargoyle's claws, but the bracers are perfect. I almost want to leave his AC as-is, because he's got DR 15/+1, natural armor, and a high dex.

Ok, if I take away his Scythe, and drop the bow proficiency I have two free feats and the following:

+2 mighty composite Shortbow (+1 Str bonus)-- (8450 gp)
Bracers of Archery (5100 gp)
Ring of Protection (+2) (8000 gp)

May I suggest dropping the bow prof and instead taking Hover? Then yeah.. bracers of archery.

Hover + archery, reach melee weapons (longspear?) = sick stuff.

Fight back? No no no, you don't get to fight -back-
