savage worlds

It ok... there are a number of little things that I am not overly found of... one being that your Stats and Skills are fairly worthless compared to Bennies. Also I don't like Hand-to-Hand damage vs. Ranged Damage, but it looks like this problem might have been solved with Deadlands Reloaded.

But it is good for one-shot (or short) pulply kind of games

I've run about 2 dozen sessions of Savage Worlds Tour of Darkness for our weekly group. I love it. It's decreased my preparation work by at least 90% as compared to d20. It seems very engaging for the players, too, because the heroes are wild cards and get many little advances about every other week. I can't wait to run another game with Savage Worlds. I would like to see how it does for fantasy and I would like to hear how the Savage Conan games goes.

Um ... I tried the system as it got pimped pretty heavy over on rpg.net. I can only speak about the basic book as I never tried the add ons. It was an okay game, you should enjoy it. It had it's good points and it's points that I didn't like. I tend to like cinematic games and this was for sure that, so that was good. There were certain feats which seemed a little too good and the people in my group picked up on that fast. Dual wielding for example is really really good and I can't imagine not passing that one up. Because of this the group's characters all looked alike.

But hey, try it out, you'll enjoy yourself.

BTW I found that True 20 was better.
