Ick. Ham-fisted, and the mask made me feel like I was watching a two-hour Burger King commercial. Nicely filmed, though.

The comic was ham-fisted, too, so that suggests it was a decent adaptation :)

The mask, I thought, was wonderful, and made me appreciate Hugo Weaving as an actor. In a comic book, character faces don't move - so, in the comic, the mask had no real effect. In the movie, though, the fact that Vs face is so unreadable stands out. And Weaving does a wonderful job with his body language and voice to fill the role.

I wound up liking the movie more than I did the comic, honestly.

Which is odd for a Hollywood film, isn't it? :)

Although, they did change things. Enough so that I don't really want to watch it (I love the original comic). I'll probably catch it when it airs on TV, but I'm not going to waste money renting it.

The movie? Or the date of the thread? :p

I just saw it, liked it, and wondered what fellow EN Worlders thought about it. After a quick Search, I couldn't find discussion on the movie after it came out.

I liked the movie and only became aware of the comic becuase of the movie. I thought this movie did a good job of translating the material to the screen. As compared to Leage, which was bad, even with the source material, Connery and a big honking sub, it was still bad. But V was a thrill of icewater down the back.

Remember, remember...

While there are elements of the adaptation that I disliked, I thought that overall it was a decent movie. I didn't mind paying money to see it on the big screen.

I saw the movie first, and really like it. I got the graphic novel afterword and thought it stunk. First case where I thought the movie was better.

i've never read the graphic novel, and had no interest in seeing the film ~ i wound up watching it round a friends and immediately came to the conclusion its one of the best movies ever made.. i know at least half a dozen others who had the same experience (i've not met anyone in real life whose seen it and not loved it)
