Some folks like his comics and/or his TV work. Others don't. I've heard it said the's a perfectionist, difficult to work with, and cannot give up an ounce of control...

But whatever flaws the man may have, he can't be all bad, because he saved a kitten. :D

He doesn't meow, he chirrups and trills, Maine coon traits. So he wanders the
house, just talking to himself all day. I think he's worried about the
economy, but I'm not sure.

He's also the poster child for attempted suicide. Leaving out how he was
found, every day he does something to elicit a shriek of horror from me. In a
ten minute span of time, for instance, he went from trying to chew through a
power cord at the socket (sticking his claws into the open socket below for
leverage), to wrapping the mouse cord under my desk around his neck like a
noose, and finally, when chased out of my office, I looked out to find him
sticking his paw into the toaster.

I had a main coon myself. Mine wasn't as much of a mix breed as Buddy. Crazy cat, he spent long nights chewing up and scratching my hand. My then fiance (now wife) got him for me because she was going back to her home town for the summer. He was an incredibly obnoxious thing, and I never got the impression he liked me much. Midway through the summer, my fiance moved in with me, and amazingly, this cat absolutely adored her. He actually climbed into the bathtub with her and sat on her stomach. I've never seen a cat do that before or since. We named him Stick'em, for his obsession with sinking his claws into everything, including us, often. After this guy grew enormous and hit at least fifteen pounds, one of my friends nick-named him Power Beast. The name stuck and there was no more of this Stick'em nonsense. Like JMS's cat, mine also had to be into everything, and at only a year and a half old, he gave in to his suicidal tendencies when he had a run-in with a car in the parking lot. That was eleven years ago. He was an amazing cat, and I hope to one day own a main coon again. They are beautiful, powerful, and complex, even for the cat species. It only makes sense that one of my favorite writers would end up owning a cat from my favorite breed.
