Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [This keeps up, I'm gonna need a bigger notebook!]

Darakeene

I've also started an online play-by-forum game set in Darakeene. Although I'd like more published information, in a way I have just enough background to keep the SL flavor while freeing me up to develop it as necessary. The only fear I have is a region-specific book coming out down the road that invalidates everything I've written  .

For a change, we decided to start the party off at first level and build the characters up from scratch. They're currently in the town of Grianad (on the border river about halfway between Meliad and LLangwyr). They haven't even gotten out of town yet and are already embroiled in a situation with a Captain of Klum's army who was staying at the inn. One of fighters is grappling with the soldier over a young woman and the army is camped just outside of town :D . Anyway, we're having fun...more to come later.

Wow. That's pretty cool.

Well I can say this RL SL game has been VERY unpredictable. From beating up their former commander (who was in reality a villian) to now being heroes in Vesh as well as figuring out a way to build a new town...this group certainly isn't what I expected.

(Course they are damn lucky too. 6 High level Asaatthi, they killed, (4 8th level PCs versus 6 13-14 level Asaatthi and one Rgr9/BoCT8) and captured their commander/villian.)

Anyway let me know how it all works out folks. :)

Is Scarred Lands selling well?

What are the top 3 fantasy d20 settings selling at the moment?

I guess Forgotten Realms would be top dog. Would SL be in the top 3.

S&S is certainly not letting up on churning out books for it. ;)

Dead,

I'd imagine its selling well. Even though nothing unique came out this summer, I'm reasonable sure there is at least ONE SL product slated for Fall/Winter release.

I honestly don't know as I don't have access to such records. However I believe I myself am contributing to its rise as at least one of the top 5 in settings. WoTC setting obvious have had a larger fan base, but I do think Scarred Lands stacks up well against them. Just not sure what if anything that translates into sales wise.

Quick question:

Besides the Ghelspad HC, where can I find information on the Library of Lokil? Thinking of sending my party that way and was looking to flesh it out. I did see a little information in the Sorcerers/Wizards/Bards Players Guide.

Thanks for the Help!

Cith,

Afraid at the moment those two, and a small Blurb by Hollowfaust are the only sources I know of/remember for Lokil.

Echoes of the Past MIGHT have something. I don't know for 100% certainity since I have yet to get it. (One of my "Things to get before the end of the year.)

Cool,

Thanks for the help...I was pretty sure that was the case but wanted to double-check before reinventing the wheel. It should be a fun trip for the party coming down from Darakeene...the approved solution would be for them to take a river-boat to Meliad, then cross the border river and skirt the Ukrudan to the east before venturing out to the library. However, from their present location it will be quicker to proceed through the Fouled Forest and down the Murmuring Pass, and time is of the essence.

I must be an evil DM because knowing my players I can almost guarantee that they'll throw caution to the wind and take option B (they haven't quite gotten used to the fact that this group of characters is only first level so they keep throwing eighth level moxie around that they can't back up)

...I can't wait... :D

Well if they die it happens. :)

Myself I'd have wait for a nice caravan to Lokil/Hollowfaust. That way you get there in one piece.

So I'm reading Edges of Infinity. I like the way they broke the book up.

However, when the book first starts off, is it me, or have they rewritten SL history again by noting that the gods fought the titans not to stop the titans from killing their worshippers and thus inflicing harm on them as they were tied to their worshippers, but to escape from the planes that they mastered but were prisoners of? I am just forgotting that that's always been the reason the gods fought the titans?

And I haven't read the whole thing yet, but do they mention how the various genies were freed? Or is it assuming the timeline from Echoes of the Past is in play?

Joe,

Firstly I agree this is probably one of the better production jobs they've done for Scarred Lands in terms of breaking up the chapters.

Secondly, I don't believe so but that's one belief in terms of why the gods came back. But I also believe they retreated to the planes to formulate a way to thwart the titans for killing their worshippers.

Thirdly, I believe that's how they are playing it, assuming Echoes time line was in play. For me the Genies aren't so much free as they are limited in their being able to access the Ethereal plane and thus jaunt freely to and from each Elemental Plane.

How far are you into Edge btw? Have you gotten the Zodiac Planes? (I think that's my favorite part next to the Occult and/or Divine Planes.)
