[SciFi to DnD Coversion/Perry Rhodan] The Bridge to Eternity - and more!

Hi Knight Otu mate!

I hope all is well!?

Reports on the demise of this thread are mildly exaggerated.

:D

Knight Otu said:
Yes, I do remember that, millenia ago, I started this thread and promised updates  . Oh well, I shouldn't promise that much :( .

I think you have probably picked up some bad habits from yours truly! :p

Knight Otu said:
But, I think I have the time during this week and the next to do some updates (shocking! )!

Look forward to it! :)

Knight Otu said:
Of course, that requires me to come out of stasis after that shock that came from reading the proposed story of the PR-Movie trilogy. :p

Was it that bad?

Hi, Upper_Krust! :)

I hope all is well!?
Mostly. :)

I think you have probably picked up some bad habits from yours truly!
Reminds me, I wanted to ask you if you need any proof-readers for your Immortal's Handbook? ;)

Was it that bad?
Actually, it was worse!
It begins with Perry Rhodan returning to the galaxy (That somehow turned into a "terran" galaxy  ), and finds it blocked (a nod to the Cantaro plot). As he gains access, he finds that space travel is mostly forbidden (a .. nod to the Cantaro and the Dommrath plots). On Terra he has to see the terrans lost in a virtual reality (a rip-off from the Cantaro cycle  ).
Of course, this is not the whole story, but I think you get the idea.
Then, there are changes to the series canon that don't really make sense: There was a sketch of something like a Gucky-mobile, seemingly straight from the Megaman games, many immortals are reduced to commanders, navigators and such .... and they still want to change the spaceship designs! This may be ok for normal spaceships, BUT NOT FOR THE SOL, AN UNIQUE; WELL-DESCRIBED SPACESHIP! (sorry for the shouting:( )
Well, I have expected some changes from the canon, but not a total change to the series :(.

Chrecktors are an ancient and enigmatic race that many believe to be descendants of dwarves and genies from the Elemental Plane of Ice. They look much like small humans, averaging at about 4,5 feet. Their flesh is transparent, and their skeleton and inner organs are visible. They are often feared for their ability to kill with a touch, draining the heat from the victim, though they are actually reluctant to use it. They are very sensitive to changes in temperature, and many are notorious for whining when the temperature is not at that one perfect point where they do not have to fear to either ?freeze and shatter? in the cold, or to ?melt? in the warm.
Combat
In combat, a chrecktor will make sure to get into a position to utilize his cold touch when he feels that his enemy has deserved it. They rarely use weapons, but will do so if they feel that it is more advantagous to attack the enemy from afar, to defeat him without actaully killing him, or if the enemy is immune to cold attacks.
Cold (Su): A chrecktor?s touch attack deals 1d6 points of cold damage per character level, to a maximum of 10d6 at 10th level. A chrecktor can suppress this cold to the point where it deals no actual damage. He can use this ability every time he touches anything.
Chrecktor Traits (Ex): Chrecktors benefit from a number of racial traits:
>>> Double damage from cold and fire.
>>>+2 save bonus against poison and disease.
Climate Vulnerability: In a cold climate, a chrecktor suffers a -2 penalty to both Constitution and Dexterity, but his Natural armor bonus increases to +6. If the chrecktor remains im a cold climate for more than a week, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 15). If he fails, these penalties increase by 1, and the natural armor increases by 1. Every week after the first, he must make an additional Fortitude save, and it?s DC increases by 3 for every week. If a chrector leaves the cold climate, these bonuses and penalties go away at a rate of 1 point per week, or 2 points per week in a warm climate. In a warm climate, a chrecktor suffers a -2 penalty to Constitution, but gains a +2 bonus to Dexterity. If the chrecktor remains im a warm climate for more than a week, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 15). If he fails, the Constitution penalty increases by 1, and the Dexterity bonus increases by 1. Every week after the first, he must make an additional Fortitude save, and it?s DC increases by 3 for every week. If a chrector leaves the warm climate, these bonuses and penalties go away at a rate of 1 point per week, or 2 points per week in a cold climate.
Chrecktor Society
Hardly anything is known about the society of the chrecktor, as almost all chrecktors encountered are wanderers, adventureres. Those wanderers tend to be loners, and it is rare to see more than two of them at a time. When they talk, it is more likely that they complain about the temperature than that they talk about their past, their home or their culture. This goes so far that every chrecktor does not reveal his name, instead having a name given to him by his companions (such as Ice Claw, one of the friends of the legendary arkonid Atlan during his youth).
Chrecktor Characters
A chrecktor?s favored class is fighter. The Level Adjustment of a chrecktor character is +4.

Edited due to feedback on the CC forums. :)

Hello Knight Otu mate! :)

I would like to point out that the English Language Homepage has put up it's original contents again at http://www.perry-rhodan-usa.com/index1998.htm .

It includes an FAQ that gives information about the main characters, races, planets, etc... of the series. For the races, it also includes some inofficial informations written by a person called Geoffrey Tolle.

I am reading over it now...I'll respond to your other posts in a while.

Incidently I forgot to tell you that I changed the name of one of my monsters in the IH to 'Cosmocrat'* in honour of Perry Rhodan and yourself. :)

*Remember I mentioned I found the name in an Occult Encyclopedia.

I take it thats in a good way!? :)

By the way that website is excellent! I have to say that the Haluters are still may favourites! :D

...although were'nt they called Halutians before? Probably translation changes I imagine?

Hi, Upper_Krust! :)

Of course it was meant in a good way! :)

As for the Haluters/Halutans:
In german, they are called Haluter. I figured that this would not be a "proper" english word, and so translated it to "Halutans". Obviously, I do not know which translation they chose before I had to come up with something. :)

They are a bit different from the PR Cosmocrats (naturally) but I think you will like them. ;)

Either way they are very cool aliens! :D

Regarding the Chrecktor they sound a little like Nehwon Ghouls - have you ever heard of them? I do like the climate change in their natural armour though - I can picture a few Epic Monsters in my head with that type of defense. ;)

Hey, I gave it to everyone, not just you! ;) (Just joking :))
Obviously, I am not the person who created it, but I'm happy you liked it. :)

I'll see them once you put out the hardcover version of the IH, right? :)

Either way they are very cool aliens!
Do you want to guess who is next on my list for conversion? ;)
Actually, I might have posted them this week, but I got a bit distracted by developing Epic Spells for the Rokugan IR.

Regarding the Chrecktor they sound a little like Nehwon Ghouls - have you ever heard of them?
Lankhmar series, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, right? For some reason, I never really got into the books, but I guess that a lot got lost in the translation.

I do like the climate change in their natural armour
though - I can picture a few Epic Monsters in my head with that type of defense.
I really wouldn't call it a defense for the chrecktors, as they loose Con and Dex in cold climates - but yes, it is something that could propably be nice to see in more monsters.

On a side note: If you don't have the ELH yet, Fenris is mentioned to be a powerful Brachyurus.

And to the masses of few lurkers on this thread: please at least post once that you read this thread! :) Neither I nor Upper_Krust bite!
