Scotley's 4e Swashbuckler

Manous Artouche, Human (Protecting) Paladin 4

"Oui, oui, however, our more ahh, mature friend can do a much better job of that with his feutage, et je sais que my pitiful attempt would pale in comparison."

Trans: feutage=fire-stick=gun, "and I know that my pitiful" .... NOTE: I made up the word, feutage, I think

Tabitha is able to move from shadow to shadow behind the building most easily. The large plantings there make ideal cover for her work. She gets to within earshot of one of the guards and the priest stationed out back. The guard is complaining. "What a fools errand this is. These Hounds are likely just out for a bit of whoring and sport. They cannot be about anything of import in a backwater like this."

The priest responds, his voice somewhat thick with the wine he has drunk, "Bah, fools we may be, but bigger the fool to cross Lector LeVasures. If he has taken a personal interest in these pathetic has-beens then you best look sharp Sargent. He thinks they have something important and he wants to put them to the question. If you must stand here in the cold and dark until judgement day you shall do it."

Gathered in the hall with the rest, the old man takes a look outside. Create distraction? Fire or explosion should work, ja? Den flee.
OOC: Looking outside for something the man can shoot for a suitable distraction.

There is a coach and four drawn up out front to take some lady of quality home after a late night of Whist. A well placed shot could certainly panic the horses and perhaps create a bit of excitement. Behind the Inn a large enclosure full of chicken's might be opened, but this would be an even more challenging shot. A pair of large oil fired lamps brace the wooden arch that leads into the yard. Each might be burst into flame with a shot. Any of these might draw the interest of the watchers to the shooter as well as the target, so you would have to move in haste after firing.

To Lucien, Manous says, "We step away from old man with gun, yes? When he shoot, everyone look to him." And Manous moves away, behind the nearest obstruction that will shelter him from the eyes of the foe but still move him closer to them. (If possible.)

The old man loosens Drache, and indicates the others to be ready to leave. He tries to move to a stealthy position on a window far away from his fellows but with a quick another window opposite to flee through stealthily after drawing attention. When everything is prepared, he takes the shot.
OOC: Assuming he can find such a place, use Rapid shot to take 4 shots near (but not at) the horses to spook all of them then dive through the opposite window to stealth away:

"Go, and get the horses," says Lucien to Manous. "I shall stay with Wilhelm and keep him safe. We will join you shortly."

OOC: A 1? Seriously.

Manous is not at all sure that he likes Lucien's tone, but he instantly decides that there was no malice in the request, and besides, Manous likes horses! "Certainment, mon ami!"*

* "Certainly, my friend!"

You find an upstairs hallway that offers a small window at the front of the building and another at the back. The others gather out back with the mounts and the pop of the gun can soon be heard. The powder smoke of the rapidly fired shots fills the hallway and as guests open doors and see the cloud of smoke there is a general panic in the wake of the retreating Hounds. All is going well as you descend the back of the inn, but one of Lucien's swords breaks out a large pane of glass as he exits the window. It falls to the cobbles below and shatters with considerable noise.

The watchers at the rear move quickly to the front at the sound of the shots. However, the priest doesn't move so fast and the breaking glass catches his attention. He comes back to the rear and sees Lucien and the old man making their way from the back of the inn...

OOC: Initiative and actions? You aren't necessarily in a fight, but knowing who acts when will be helpful.

"Damn," swears Lucien at the sound of shattering glass. "That will make things more interesting." With that, the warrior makes a beeline for the horses.
