"I expected it was something like that. These Church Knights grow bolder by the day. Their mistress' influence with the King is great and so few are willing to speak out against them even when they spout obvious falsehoods. We must all be on our guard." He reaches into a pocket and pulls out an official looking letter. "Aislinn, you got mail today." He passes the letter over. "Anyway, get some rest and we'll consider how to counter this threat in the morning."

"Thank you, Captain," says Lucien with an easy smile. "A hot meal, a bath, and a soft bed will do much to make up for the trials of the day."

Morning brings no easy answers nor does the next day nor the day after and life continues in the tower of the Hounds as it usually does.

Then on the evening of the third day after fetching the horses from the farm you find yourselves sitting in the common room. An attractive young woman walks hesitantly into the room. Her red hair is her most noticeable feature, but by no means the only one of note. She purses her full lips as if pondering what to say. She wears a red fur lined jacket and a matching scarf over her fashionably low cut dress thought the late spring evening is mild. While none of you know her she is familiar.

She sizes you up and says, "I was told that if there was any place in Franzia where men and women of honor who still hold to the old ideas of nobility could be found that it was here."

Sensing that a certain amount of decorum is called for in this situation, Manous rises and speaks to the damsel: "You have come to the right place, Lady. Do come in and make yourself comfortable." Manous then fetches the lady a glass of weak but refreshing watered wine and a basket of bread. "When you are suitably refreshed, please tell us what is troubling you?"

Malkyr greets the woman as he steps out of the shadow.
