Scotley's 4e Swashbuckler

OOC: Technically, it did not. The DC for Aid Another goes up by 1 every other level. I believe the DC for our characters should be 12.

OOC: You have the right of it. Since we are all learning I'll allow one more attempt to aid this one rather than give you failure right out of the gate.

OOC: You know, Insight, there is such a thing as being too da**** smart for your own good! :p

Manous still can't help, since he already blew chunks on his 'aid another' attempt for this challenge.

OOC: It's OK, Leif. Karma is a bitch. Tonight, I had the worst D&D game session I've had in about five years. That's what I get for saying something :erm:

OOC: So, it'd be a good time to Shayuri's Tabitha to chime in about all the hedges she cut through when sneaking out of the Hound's compound...

Tabitha ranges out ahead, flitting from shadow to hedge to tree to wagon...always watching for guards, Churchmen, and other prying eyes they wished to avoid. Every few minutes she looped back to tell the others which way NOT to go.

OOC: If I read this correctly, then the second aid another makes that first attempt a success, leaving 5 more successes needed before we have 3 failures. I hope this idea is not too far out.

Ali watches the path taken by the others carefully. The watching spies will be fooled, but there may be more subtle dangers in the area close-by the city. Using his knowledge of magic, Ali considers the way the party would look to scriers and suggests that the party change up the groupings early on, so the party looks like random travellers who just happen to be going the same way.

OOC: Arcana +12 (but I suppose a natural one is our first failure...)

GM: A natural one is gonna be a failure. So the count is 1 and 1. What skill next?

The Hounds manage to reach the outskirts of Paris without incident. They take back alleys and double back a few times and avoid the known hangouts of the Church Knights. However, they fail to notice a halfling in dark robes concealed in a small alcove near the Northgate with an orb in his hand...

Manous Artouche, Human Protecting Paladin 4

"Friends, I would want you to beware of that nefarious-looking halfling lurking in yon shadows, but I failed to notice him, so please disregard my words."

OOC: Sorry, Scotley, just my attempt to make sense out of why you told us about something that we don't know. :erm:

OOC: Just trying to add an element of suspense for the players if not the characters. I know this group is quite capable of separating player knowledge and character knowledge. As I mentioned in the early ramblings about this game, I want to experiment a little bit and push the bounds of storytelling.
