Scrolls?

Just a question.

I've played DnD off and on, but this is my first time playing a Wizard, and there are sooo many rules for them.

The main one I have is this. If I Scribe a scroll, and cast the spell from it later in a fight, does the scroll disapear? Or can I cast it as many times as I want? Am I limited to the number of spells that day to use it from a scroll? Or only from my Spell book?

Also, to scribe a scroll, would it look something like this?::

I want to Scribe Magic Missle. Im a level 2 Wizard.
So, it would be; 1x2x25= 50gp.
So It would cost 50gp and 2 XP to scribe this scroll?

Am I doing this right?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, the scroll disappears.
You cannot cast spells from a spellbook, you prepare them at the beginning of the day and save them to cast later during the day.
Actually, you should scribe it at CL 1, because you don't gain anything from having it as CL 2. so 25 gp, 1 XP

The scroll is used up after one use. I wouldn't say it disappears, but it's not usably anymore.

Also: Welcome to the boards!

Are there ways to beef up the ammount of spells you can cast?

I mean, i'm level 2, and shooting 3 Magic Missles is crap.
Yeah, the Extra Slot feat from Complete Arcane comes to mind.

increase your Int score so you get more bonus spells, specialize so you can cast an extra spell of your specialists school, take the extra slot feat, and gain levels. Spellcasters are limited in the number of spells they can cast and at early levels it is ver y limiting, but at high levels you will be the most dominant character in your party.

Thanks! I apprecaite all this help.

Is there anywhere online that has like a NOOB faq on wizards online anywhere? And where is this Complete Arcana feat in the players handbook?

What do you mean, a noob faq? What sort of things do you want answered? Most of the stuff a noob needs to know is in the Player's Handbook.

And the Complete Arcane is a supplemental book.

Oh ok.

Basically, we are all new to Wizards in my campaign. So, mostly anything about them would help. Things like what I asked, about crafting things, scrolls, casting spells.

Anything that I should know to get the best out of my Wizard.

THere is an FAQ on the Wizards site, but I'd stay clear of it as it would just confuse you. Trust me on that.

Complete Arcane is another book, its optional. For now just stick with the PHB it makes things more simple for someone new to the game.

Your best bet is to just tread the book you have and any questions you have on what you can do or how it all works either ask your DM and the other players or post a question here.
