Sealed In Blood - Prologue

"Please fellows. We have precious little time, Why are we all here? I know my plight and would assume you all have been enslaved by the beast in your own way. But lets leave the philosophy for another time. How do we get ourselves out of this place and regain our freedom?" Aedon is a very diplomatic man and he is obviously trying to get you all to focus on banding together to escape. At the mention that the tiefling is a Hellfire wyrm DawnBlaze the pegasus will back up and paw the floor in obvious discomfort.

" Well judging by what the fiend set before he left, he will return shortly to give such powerful ones as you some kind of mission, I think escaping his fortress in less than the two minutes that remain to us might be somewhat difficult. Even for such as you. "

Timati pauses in concentration for a couple of seconds and speaks the word 'Ring' in elven and the staff in his hand curls up and wraps around his finger as it shrinks into a wooden ring.

"Especially since a fiend powerful enough to acquire the services of such as yourself has no doubt got ways of keeping them. Perhaps one of you has some means to transport yourselves magically, like a teleportation spell or a planeshift? I regret that I did not petition the Seldarine for such a spell, since I have been travelling the planes alone, I petitioned for a miracle of lesser power but alas it can only transport myself and my equipment. Or maybe you possess someway to avoid the sight of the lesser devils that no doubt crawl all throughout this fortess. And I trust you are all protected against divinations and can also grant me such protection such that this fiend cannot track us down so simply, even a humble cleric such as I can find one unwarded, with a single spell, one of the most complex I am allowed to petition my gods for but still to one that has such as you bound to him, arranging for someone to cast such a spell would be far from difficult. If amongst yourselves you have that at your disposal I expect escape would be possible. Of course since in doing so you break whatever deal you made with the fiend, I'm sure that he will not return to you whatever it is you seek and you will have to return here to take it by force. Of course there are simpler ways to escape if that is all you desire, a Word of Chaos would return those who do not serve the Powers of Chaos amongst you to their homes. Well that is all the aid in escaping this place I can offer you, a little advice and what spells I have been granted by the Seldarine are at your service, Noble Champion. "

"You know, sir, I am rather surprised that an hero as noble and experienced as you has to come to us with such questions. It all seems rather simple to me. We are all here because we said 'yes' rather than 'no', and agreed to a bargain of our liking. The simplest way to get out of here is to accept the consequences of our action entirely, fulfill our part of the bargain and do whatever the Master will deem to ask us. We signed a Contract, after all, and I thought that your kind was always loyal to a given word. Oh, but probably I'm wrong, and surely a creature such as Luz'Noc doesn't deserve a similar consideration. Otherwise you could find a way to force the Master to renegotiate the terms of the Contract, maybe suggesting to give you back your soul in exchange for... his life? A less painful death? I'm quite sure he'll find such a proposal rather amusing. Then there's always the possibility to escape this fortress and hide from his wrath. Of course, this would mean leaving one's soul behind, but a soul isn't really that necessary, is it? Whatever you choose, know, sir, that I'll be at your side. In fact, I sense interesting events indeed ahead of us."

"You've been travelling the planes alone, wise one? Then you'll have lots of fascinating stories to tell when you'll finally accept that cigarette."

"I have to agree with Jack on his point. We should just keep the deal that was made. As interesting as fighting my way through a field of demons may sound, and I am sure the paladin can agree with me, we may not live to tell the tale."

"The sooner we begin to realize this the better. I am sure we all lead more stable lives than this. That, and I don't enjoy being in anyones debt, though I have been in his all my life. I want to be free of this. This may be our chance to finish this once and for all."

I speak with much diplomacy, speaking fluidly and articulately.

Aedon turns to look at Jack with a mix of Horror and Loathing. "Are you telling me that you willingly allow yourself to be used by this creature? I have no other choice if the souls of two towns are to be spared. He holds them at death's edge whild I am helpless on my own to stop the carnage and resultant loss of thier Imortal souls. Do not ever think to question my motives or integrity again. I will be free of this mad place and return to my Wife and Daughters." DawnBlaze nuzzles Aedon' shoulder and tries to comfort him.

"Excuse me if I questioned your integrity, sir, but I really think Luz'Noc could have those cities erased from existence without asking for your permission. If he didn't do that, I guess it was only because having you at his service amused him more than senseless slaughter. But I don't think that whatever he wants from us will be much more honorable and will serve better purposes than having those cities sucked in Hell. Didn't you think about that, sir? That while saving your cities, you were maybe sentencing a country, or even a world? You made your choice, you said 'yes' to the bargain and now you're here with us, damned with us, no better than us. I hope your burden will be light, and that you'll see again your family, sir, but, willingly or not, you are going to serve him before."

As quickly as they had appeared, everyone in the room vanishes from Hyanda's eyes. The doors opens and closes as the pit fiend casually strides forth into the room, going forward with an unsettling ease. The celestial could notice the hint of a smile crossing the blue devil's face as it spoke, "Now it is time for the binding process for you."

Timati looks up and his eyes slide open revealing the violet pupils beneath his lids as the false form sloughs away and he grows taller and younger. In seconds a Celestial, a 7 foot tall Tulani Eladrin with silver hair flowing down his back hovers slightly above the ground before Luz'Noc,

"Indeed, let us get this done, I must honour the spirit of my agreement. Some interesting companions you have found for whatever this game of yours is. A cunning rogue who seems to not exist, an elemental who was a human,a hellfire wyrm, a divine paladin, a shapeshifter and something I am yet to place. Oh and must you try and ruin my Veil with your 'The Celestial' comment? The Veil may not be necessary here but I believe its wise to keep in practise. "

The pit fiends grins, viscious fangs glaring back at the Tulani, "You should know the answer to your own question, enlightened one." He mentions the last bit sarcastically, "To exemplify 'true' freedom, yet to be bound by the laws of your own kind. Ironic, isn't it?"

"I have transcended from petty rules like your own-do not mistake me for some mere devil." His voice trails off, leaving behind some mystery still. The doors begin open infront of them and the fiend escorts the celestial to another chamber where the Binding process begins. Soon, everything will be ready. The fiend thinks, and inwardly smiles.

A strange silence covers the scorched grounds of the lower plane Gehenna as a shadow barely touches it. Large wings of perfect darkness shroud the striking figure-one would imagine it to be a true celestial without them. In front of him resides an unnatural cave formed out of the land around it, the lair of the hags.

Not just any night hags, the being thought, but it wasn't there to deal with them-and just because of that knowledge he felt more calm, even though no look of emotion betrayed his appearance. He flew swiftly and with purpose forward.

In his hands he held the focus, a bright red orb the size of his head-an item needed by Luz'Noc to translate his warriors to the area. Just like lemures they would be expected to mindlessly follow the pit fiend's bidding, after all, it would be their last task to complete before they were free, as long as they were successful.

His orders were clear though, the arcane angel's eyes turned obsidian as his form vanished and appeared further within the cave. The Coven's defenses were air-tight, but the Pit Fiend had planned ahead of time-there would be no stopping his wrath...
