Is the Worm that Walks from the ELH the same as the one from the CoC d20?

Sort of....

In the ELH, it has been converted to a template. The example shown is of a 23rd level wizard turned into one.

In CoC, it's just presented as a creature.

Speaking of worms....

My favorite use of worms has always been Wormscape, a demiplane made entirely of those wriggly creatures with shifting pockets of noxious gas scattered throughout the writhing mass. It was described in the Guide to the Ethereal Plane.

I sent a high-level party to the center of it in search of an evil artifact....most fun I've had grossing folks out in years!! :D

Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but maggots (of the non-evil/magical type at least) only eat unhealthy/dead meat. I found this out from the show's explanation of how they're helpful in removing dead/diseased tissues without ever touching the 'good meat'. If I remember correctly the doctors still don't know how the little buggers manage that, seeing as they've basically only got one sense: Taste.

I knew this. Also I just heard an interesting report on the radio, where they are investigating the use of dogs to "sniff" cancer. Apparently a doctor had heard several reports of dogs acting strange around their owners who where then soon diagnosed with cancer.

The story said that one man claimed his dog had started trying to bite a mole off his leg, and that mole was then diagnosed as cancerous.

Maybe it's that the dogs are giving out the cancer. :-)

So, basically, they tried to be gross and did an okay job of it. And then they called it adult content and sealed the section. Nothing an 8-year old would be surprised at, and certainly nothing that my players would find unusual in one of my more ick-oriented story threads.

Ah well, that's why they gave Ravenloft to someone else, yes?

Sooooo...

Basicly, you have here a situation where if the Feared Evil came true (Rape, etc), people would be pissed at WotC for being too nasty.

If it DOESN'T, like most of us have been saying all along, people like the above will be angry at WotC for not being nasty enough.

I can feel more sympathy for WotC each day...

From the description of the spell "Corpsebond":

"During the casting of this spell, the caster must copulate with a corpse of any size or shape."

...stuff then peels off the corpse and bonds with the casters body.

The spell "Searing Seed" causes fluid to impregnate the victim, with a 1d3 round gestation period at the end of which the "vile, teratic baby" claws its way outside. It grows to adulthood in one round, though, so its not quite so disgusting as an evil baby that continues to attack the characters.

Now, when I look back at when I was eight, I'm somewhat horrified by some of the things we talked about. Stuff like this never came up, though. Times change, I guess.

But what can you do, the kids love it.
