Searching for Hercules (no..not Kevin Sorbo...)

In general, when you know you're looking for a movie, don't go for Google. Go for The Internet Movie Database (IMDb). Also good for finding out about TV shows (even obscure ones).

Yeah, I use that a lot as well, but not knowing for sure which one I was after, it didnt help me much. I end up using IMDB most often when my wife and I are watching a movie or TV show and we get hit with the "Don't I know that guy from somewhere?" bug.

Turns out that Lou was the one I was looking for. Now I need to find someplace I can rent it (with x-mas on the way, my movies buying budget has been put on hold "You never know what you're going to get...")

Thanx for the help...

Many years back our gaming group held a "Bad Movie Weekend" where we played the worst B and C sci-fi and fantasy movies that we could find while collectively panning them. Sort of our own version of MST3000. After each movie we would rate them. The one that won was this film, the first Lou Ferrigno Hercules. It was so bad it was good.

A few years back I tried finding it on EBay and accidentally wound up with the sequel, which wasn't nearly as good as it had higher production values and played it straight, whereas the first one is totally camp. I recently obtained a copy of the first one. Great stuff!

When I was around 10 they were showing a lot of old movie series on late friday
nights. Chaplin movies, Olsen Bandet, Gög & Gokke etc. They also showed a few
old Hercules movies.

I liked them, but I kinda took them as comedies, having just discovered the Naked
Gun and Hot Shots! movies with their deadpan slapstick.

IIRC, in one scene an island is being sucked down into the sea and Hercules and
some companion are on a boat and watch it go down. Witnessing the destruction,
the companion, in mythological Greece, says: "Christ!"

I laughed so hard and I was the only one that got the joke. I felt so smart.
