Secret War (Marvel): Anyone reading this?

AFGNCAAP

First Post
Is anyone here picking up this mini-series? I've picked up #1 & was hooked immediately. Why's that? Well... (spoiler ahead)

One of the things revealed in #1 was that a lot of second-string villains with gear-based powers were carrying hi-tech stuff worth millions, though they were pulling jobs that only were in the thousands. An underworld tech guy called the Tinker was responsible for providing/fixing the gear, for a small share of the take (not nearly enough to cover gear costs). However, it seems that the mysterious Tinker was being bankrolled by someone else--the nation of Latveria! THese second-string, hi-tech goons were elevated from mere thugs w/ hi-tech weapons to clandestinely-bankrolled terrorists acting in the interest of a hostile foreign power!

The plot (revealed so far) makes quite a bit of sense, adds something to the Marvel U., & makes some bad guys turn out to be even worse. :D

Opinions? Comments? Ideas? Critiques? etc.?

It's a new miniseries from Marvel. But it has nothing to do with the Beyonder or the Secret Wars miniseries from the 1980's.

then they should'a given it a different name. secret wars is the name of a specific event which was kinda cool (if odd that no one seemed to notice chicago was missing). this sounds lame by comparison. ;)

I haven't read it, but it supposedly deals with S.H.I.E.L.D. and espionage and intelligence ops and conspiracies and things of that sort. So in that context, a "secret war" kind of makes sense, though I agree that they should have just called it something else to avoid confusion.

So, I'm guessing Spider-man won't get a new suit out of the deal. ;)
