D&D General Self-Defeating Rules in D&D

Darkness in PF2 has a similar role as a long path filled with rough shrubbery and weeds. It's a challenge where some builds and ancestry can decrease or bypass but it's not like it's a big deal of a challenge either way.

Does a game of OSR consider the mental health of the player character or their nutritional intake? In the latter case as long as it's just 'food' they'll be fine and dandy no?

My "favourite" iteration of the vision-impairment rules is fog cloud, where everyone is basically attacking each other blind, and the result is that you get advantage on attacks because your opponent can't see you, but disadvantage because you can't see them, which cancel out so the upshot is that basically nobody gets either advantage or disadvantage on any attacks all fight.
